1993 made good sense for this past week. Not only was it skipped for the Easter weekend special, but it appears that in 2020 there was a five month gap between 1993 charts, so we're not likely to see it again until September.
Alas, that means we should be right back to the 2020 repeat cycle next week, the next question being will there be a 4th of July special? This year was (I think) only the second time since 2013 that there was a regular countdown on Memorial Day, so who knows?

Apparently 1985 was a mistake and it will be 1982.

Wow, the wrong I Will Remember You was also played two years ago as well? I guess I blocked that from my memory. Can't wait to hear that mistake again in 2024!
The fact that we got a May 1992 and June 1992 chart four weeks apart still didn't deter them from the two-year cycle. Not that I expected it to...

I can’t remember if they did or not (they probably did tho), I just edited the original post from 2020 in my post. P2K played the correct version of Heartless when they did that countdown last year, so I was surprised they played the wrong version this time around.

…so for this week’s American Top 40, Billboard were going by a chart-calculating computer for the first time which resulted in a first draft of the chart riddled with errors. This is the chart they gave AT40 that week and by the time they fixed those errors, before BB were able to inform AT40 about said errors, that week’s show had already been recorded and manufactured.
So here’s that error-riddled AT40 from June 9th 1973, with both AT40 & Hot 100 rankings listed:

Listening to Pop2K during my travels today and noticed some derps.
Rich misgendered S Club 7 referring to them as a girl group.
Despite multiple radio edits played, the unedited version of "Play" by Jennifer Lopez played.
R Kelly didn't get skipped or retconned.

Julie Brown mentioned that R. Kelly had two hits in the countdown, but did not play them.

90s this week is 1990 (NOT a 2020 repeat, thank god) I was blown away to not hear a 2020 repeat today, but it didn't last long when I realized that instead we get a fourth airing of a chart last heard in 2019. Different, yes, but not much better.

Why do you guys care about repeats on the 1990s countdowns? Julie Brown adds nothing to the countdown.
I listen for the music and not for the "Wubba, Wubba, Wubba."

Why do you guys care about repeats on the 1990s countdowns? Julie Brown adds nothing to the countdown. I listen for the music and not for the "Wubba, Wubba, Wubba." For me, it keeps some of the lower-charting hits or one-week wonders (songs that hit the top 40/30 for just one week) that charted on other, unplayed charts from getting play on the countdown. I don't mind this week's pick, I'm actually glad they're playing 1990 again so soon, especially with how quickly the Hot 100 moved in '90 & '91.
