Here is the weird thing of them choosing the 10/12/85 chart. They went with this chart back in 2016 on Friday 10/14, which is exactly 1 week ahead of 10/7. This has to be a glitch.

Even stranger, 80s on 8 replayed songs 11, 9 and 8. I thought for a moment there was a programming bug.
I don't know what the 80s program director is thinking but it seems like they are avoiding the late 80s as it may seem.

I don't know what the 80s program director is thinking but it seems like they are avoiding the late 80s as it may seem. I don’t think that’s the case, they played ‘88 just a few weeks ago. Their chart selection with ‘89, for as long as I’ve been listening (the last 4 years), has just always been less than stellar.

I've listened to that 1983 show about 3 times now.
It's when I first started getting into the Billboard charts.

I've listened to that 1983 show about 3 times now. It's when I first started getting into the Billboard charts. I was about six months earlier. Spring 1983 for me.

I feel very strongly that it should be 1976 this weekend. It has not last been featured in over 3 months

Watch next week be 1998 lol. It hasn't been announced but let's be real, that's what it'll most likely be. The one time I try to predict next week's show & so they switch it up! Instead they're going with 1993, thankfully avoiding the October 30th chart for the first time in four years! P2K is 2009 this week!

Sounds like they went with 1980. Hope the 80s isn't using the playbook of the 90s and 2000s, playing the same years less than a month apart while some years go months in between plays. The 70s does this with 1976. They had not played that year since July after a short interval of June 1976 to July 1976.
What is the 2000s this week?

I don't worry about those years. they have Casey-hosted countdowns airing in syndication while 1989 does not. Also, the turnover rate for the top 40 in '89 seems to be a lot quicker than the rest of the 80s.

90s on 9 probably realized that, given the perpetual two-year-repeat cycle, they either had to pick a different 1993 chart this year or play 10/30 every year until the end of time. No doubt we'll hear it next year.
