Finally we get 1976 after a 3 and a 1/2 long month gap. Don't Fear the Reaper is featured on this week's countdown, which makes it fitting considering Halloween is right around the corner.

So they are going with 1986. Does this mean 10/25/1986 which replicates the date of 10/25/80 or 11/1/86? This issue is eerily similar to 2017. They went with December 24 1983 the weekend of 12/22 and then Dec 24, 88 the following weekend (12/29), However, this case is more clear as the charts were frozen the end of the year and didn't decide to go with a special New Year's countdown.

1982 is next week. It’s possible with the way the rotation is going, we could get 1984, 1987, or 1989 Thanksgiving weekend (11/25). Any one of these choices would yield a new countdown that hasn’t been premiered on the vj big 40.

90s on 9 is back to doing the "three year shuffle," staying very close to the 2020 rotation without repeating it exactly. It remains to be seen if that will continue after next week.

Do you know where some of these song peaked or if some of them even hit the hot 100? the bottom 3 (30-28) didn’t chart & the entire top 25 (minus Funhouse) hit the top 40.

Sounds like this week is 1976 or they just played last weeks promo for American top 40 after they did this weeks wheel of Casey.

Any one of these choices would yield a new countdown that hasn’t been premiered on the vj big 40 Seems like that's the plan (maybe), as next week, it'll be all about 1984! If we do end up getting that Thanksgiving weekend 1989 chart, it'll be worth the wait imo.

It seems like they would purposely avoid doing countdowns when Milli Vanilli claimed the number one position. That being said, I have a gut feeling they won’t do 1989 the last weekend in November. (11/25/89). We will see.

(11/25/89). We will see. They’ve done at least two countdowns where Milli Vanilli were #1, so it’s not completely out of the question.

It seems like they would purposely avoid doing countdowns when Milli Vanilli claimed the number one position. That being said, I have a gut feeling they won’t do 1989 the last weekend in November. (11/25/89). We will see. They’ve done at least two countdowns where Milli Vanilli were #1, so it’s not completely out of the question. That is true. I remember 7/1/89 in 2020. When was the other?

So, I was mistaken on that, I'd thought there'd been a time in September 2020 where they'd played a chart with Girl I'm Gonna Miss You at #1, but they actually played 9/16, the week before. If there was another week they played with Milli Vanilli at #1, it was before I started listening.

*if you count The Twist as just a re-entry (which I personally would, seeing its 18 previous weeks were tacked on with it for this run), the High Debut distinction would go to “RUN TO HIM” by BOBBY VEE, which debuted at #57 and later made it to #2.
Next week’s Survey is a special: Billboard’s Top 50 Album Hits of the ‘60s! It’ll be interesting to see what’s classified as an “album hit”…

That is a page out of 80s on 8's playbook from thirteen years ago when they substituted songs they did not have. Pop2K used to do this when they started their countdown and the 90s might have done this.

90s this week is 1999 (sticking to the schedule unfortunately) The good thing is, although they continue to follow the 2020 schedule, they are now off by a week since they skipped 1998 a few weeks ago. So, while still a very lazy approach, at least we are not getting the exact same charts.
