This is a single? Seriously?
I loved Blinded and was looking forward to new stuff, but this is just awful. Tune is catchy but the lyrics are just all over the place and nonsensical. I get what they're going for, everything these days is fake, paved paradise... put up a parking lot, etc., just bad execution.

I remember this song when they played it at my college back in May - didn't like it then and don't like it now either. And I remember all the other new songs they played being of a similar nature. I really hope they haven't totally turned into an unfunny novelty act.

The following comes from Stephan himself. In regards to "Non-Dairy Creamer," indeed humor is the intent, both musically and lyrically. I've felt provoked and poisoned by our politics and culture in the last few years. I wanted to amplify that provocation with some irony and take a knock at some of these fear-based phrases like "threat level orange." All kinds of hypocrisy in current headlines then popped into my head and I rhymed em. I meant for it to be a hoot (though I know it has some teeth). Bombastic humor being the balm to move past a pretty nasty period.

I don't think the song's anything special, but I don't think it totally sucks either. It basically sounds like a typical 3EB song to me. While the lyrics sounded a little ridiculous to me at first, I couldn't help but laugh at them either. The main point is that it's a catchy song that only gets me more excited to hear everything else on the new album.

It has a message that's hidden behind "humorous" lyrics. I know i said its not meant to be JUST funny, it more feels like its saying something by examing situations going on in a lighter way.

^ From penance and The Monarch to willthefutureblameus and now...what is that, a photo of the moon? Anyway, your Monarch was the longest running avatar I can recall.

Yeah, I wouldn't have changed it but the server I had the picture on figured out that I had it on there and the picture got deleted, and I don't feel like going to the trouble to get it back, so I chose something else. I actually took this picture last night and yes, it is the moon, with what looked to me like a circle of light surrounding it. Scared the hell out of me. And willthefutureblameus is OLP related. I might change it to something else but probably not, unless there's a song on their new album that I'll just be unable to live without using.

Okay, maybe "novelty song" isn't the best description; perhaps "satire" would be more appropriate. But whatever they were going for, I think they missed the mark.

Thank you. I feel complete now. Earlier today I contemplated changing my avatar to that before you could, but for some reason I chose not to. The more I listen to this song the more likely I am to stop listening even sooner.

As much as I'm rooting for them to make a comeback, this is easily the worst lead single of their career to date.
The track's main weakness is how dated it is lyrically. It's great that Jenkins is earnestly trying to spread his lyrical capacities thematically, but it doesn't diminish the fact this feels lazily written (sticking "Paper Planes" lyrics at the end and making the climatic point of the song a repetition of "Young Gay Republicans!!!" ) and it isn't like this is the first time his lyrics have had aspects of commentary in them anyway (i.e "Wounded", "Slow Motion", "Self-Righteous", to name several, which are each better on delivery and universality).
To Jenkins' credit, I read his response on NME, and I do understand where he was coming from in writing this song, particularly his point on not taking commentary so seriously and lightening up and spicing it up with irony and humor. The point is, however, this is a single we're talking about here, and more importantly, a lead single, and even as an album track few are going to remember this even six months from now; which is itself telling since many of their concert staples are album tracks.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I know right? Lol, It's really catchy, and if you ask me that's really important in a song.

I still think this was a weak single choice. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
