Well it might be on Ursa, sure. But I don't really look at it as the lead-off single. I see this as more of a teaser, like Disturbed's "Guarded" or I dunno, I can't think of other examples right now. By the time Ursa comes out, they'll have to put out a new single. I mean, I think the Red Star thing was just a thank you to fans and everybody to let them know that new music is almost here and to get their name back out there again.

I know exactly what you mean, and I kinda think that was the purpose of this song as well. And since you can't think of any other examples: A7X - Critical Acclaim Red - Fight Inside The Used - Liar Liar (Burn In Hell)

^Arguable, but I'd add in Serj Tankian - "The Unthinking Majority." (Ha! And "Cigaro" by SOAD come to think about it!)
But 3EB isn't even an A-list alternative band and made the top 50 on the format, so I tend to view it as the record's first single.

Well that was after only a two-year absence from the charts, too. As opposed to 8-9 years after the last major hit (although it'd been more like 5-6 years since anything). I think it counts for something.

I think it counts for something. Five years. Out Of The Vein came out in March 2003, along with "Blinded" as the single, and the Red Star EP came out last year, and "Non-Dairy Creamer" went for adds then too. So five years.

^That's what he just said. The two-year absence I believe was in reference to "Guarded."

Well, I said "5-6" because this song really carried over into '09. Also, Out of the Vein didn't have major hits like the first two albums, which was my point about the bigger gap. For the people who end up remembering this song, it'll likely be remembered as the new album's first single. (Comparing it to Disturbed is a different story altogether.)

I don't know if you guys are arguing in here or what, but I think whatever has come out of it is the fact that top 40 is pretty damn good for this song considering the situation 3EB was facing coming in.

Today, I see "Jumper" has made a sudden rise to #69 on the iTunes chart.
Has it been featured on some prominent television program these past several weeks (I hardly watch television any more) or in the form of some other major promotional effort? I'm just curious, as surely you'd imagine "Semi-Charmed Life" to be the far more likely previous hit to grace the iTunes chart.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I don't think a scene in "Yes Man" when a Jim Carrey sings this song and plays guitar to a dude that's threatening to jump off a building has anything to do with it. Does it?

I'm surprised by the laughter around the theater how many people actually seemed to know the song from ten years ago.

It was great, but I looked like an idiot because I was laughing as soon as he looked at the guitar, I knew it was coming since he sang the song earlier when he was trying to learn to play it. People gave me some odd looks until he started singing. lol

43 41 THIRD EYE BLIND Non-Dairy Creamer 222 223 -1 0.704
13 weeks on the chart now, the past 7 or so right around the same high-40s range. Some decent longevity.
