Apparently this will be his first single, penned by Tracy Ackerman, Andrew John Watkins, and Paul David Wilson (not the rumoured, sure-to-be-brilliant, Tamyra Gray/Nick Lachey combo). If he wins, it'll hit stores June 13th (rumour has it the loser will release their single the following week).

I haven’t heard this yet but I have a feeling it is going to be terrible. Didn’t these guys write all the Spice Girls material? The title is laughable. 19 Entertainment always plays politics with the winners single. All three of these writers are signed to their publishing company. This is just another way for them to make money off the idol franchise. They don’t care if the song is good or not. All they care about is the sales of the single and giving their writers exposure. It’s sad because out of all the previous finalist, these two really need a great song to even have a shot at breaking mainstream radio. Unfortunately I don’t think they are going to get it with these two particular songs.

S Club made Grade A Pop.
The song won't get much pop airplay, but will do wonders on AC... and sales will still have it #1 on Hot 100... in usual American Idol fashion.
Katharine's song was awful.

I wouldn't bet on this. Idols typically sell huge amounts of store singles, not digital. But by huge #s, that might be 75-100k. Top digital is selling 100-175k right now, plus has airplay. This could be the first Idol single not to hit #1. I'm personally not a fan of his, and I think America made a bad choice (just like they did in the White House!) Do I Make You Proud = Future Hot 100 #1 single! |

So its not like they have a long history of selling bad LOL  Anyway, right now there are no big digital threats. SOS and Bad Day arent selling 175K, no less 100K right now. Promiscuous is #1 right now, but I cant see it selling 175K since the big sellers are usually repressed, and it wasnt. Carrie managed to sell 170K of her single regardless so I cant see why Taylor can't too. And I doubt his digital sales will be as low as Carrie. He even has a Top 20 song on iTunes right now! Now, the only threat I see is "Hips Don't Lie". If that's released before June 13th, then I think he's toast, but apparently people are saying theyre not releasing the single until July or something, so if thats the case,great for Taylor ;) |

OK, how can you call a #1 song NOT a huge hit? I am assuming you are talking about their radio performance, pal? If 1 1/2 million people buy a song is less important than the song's performance on the radio? In my opinion, it is not! In 10 years from now, people will know that Kelly, Fantasia & Carrie toped the charts with their AI singles ... Again, in my opinion a #1 song is always a HUGE achievement! |
