Hopefully it has. This song is so cheesy, but then again, which American Idol first single isn't?

Thank god. This would be the worst airplay hit of the year. Bring on the next and hopefully decent single Taylor!!!! (Though he will still get the obligatory #1 on billboard for the winner)

believe it or not, with the digital downloading and stuff, I think there's a good chance that Taylor might miss the top spot on the Hot 100. for the past few years, the single has sold about 150K, more or less in the first week, and they typically do better in physical sales than downloads. I think it's very likely that something like "Hips Don't Lie" or "Promiscuous" or another song gets almost as many downloads, and combined with huge radio airplay, blocks the AI single from #1.

Yeah you are right-I guess I should have said obligatory top 3 hit because I am pretty damn sure he will go top 3 at least, even if he barely misses #1.

Wow and Billboard likes almost everything. It seems like a lot of "music industry" people arent digging Taylor. Hope he proves them wrong!!!

I like Taylor but this song is the one of the worst ballads I have ever heard. I seriously cringe every time I hear it. I’m glad it’s already lost its bullet. I am still holding out hope that it will miss the Hot 100 number one spot. It would send a message to 19 Entertainment not to record piss poor records written by the hacks on their payroll.

He's given given all the Idols great reviews. I think he called Clay's Measure of a Man a "triumph of art and commerce". Although, like his style or not (personally, I'm on the "not" side), Clay has a gorgeous voice. Taylor doesn't have the best recording voice.

Yep...he infamously referred to it as the "best male pop album since Thriller" or some shit like that. Which makes me surprised that he hates Taylor's single as much as he does.

To be fair to Taylor, don't these horrid AI songs always flop at radio?

I still hear A Moment Like This on the radio sometimes - even on Pop stations. But I guess Kelly's an exception.

Yeah Kelly is probably the only exception. It would be interesting to see the peaks of the other AI winners though!

I think Taylor will have the ability to sell several million albums (probably for a couple of records) based on the AI exposure and I'm sure the media blitz that follows when he releases an album. However, based on what I heard from him on the show, I'm really skeptical that he will have much radio success. As CT stated, more a Rubuen/Clay situation than Kelly Clarkson and more than likely Chris Daugherty (who I do see getting major HotAC and pop airplay).

I am glad it won't have a good chance of hitting #1 or even top 3 IMO. Hips sold 175k , and was the #1 airplay song. Even if he sold 100k digital and 150k store, he MIGHT have a chance at #1. I don't see him coming close to 100k digital though. I'm thinking 40k might be more realistic, and who knows on store singles..yet 1 more year has gone by, and store singles are selling like 40% less than last year. I wouldn't even mind if he doesn't make top 10. I'm not a Hicks fan, and never have been, never will be. I think he was possibly the worst as far as "contemporary fit" (meaning he'd be played on radio) out of the top 8 or so. Can't wait to hear more Pickler, Chris and Katherine!

Yes, it will be interesting to see its 'physical' performance.
#26 on itunes now.

I remember Carrie's IYH made #1 on iTunes on its first day. This one seems to be moving more slowly than I expected although it is moving up.

Considering Walmart doubled their order I have a feeling he will do very solid sales. I am not sure he can best Carrie's numbers last year but with some of the obssessed Soul Patrol buying 100 each it might happen.

I hope those people with way more money than sense buying 100 each know that they have to be run up on separate transactions to count towards Billboard's totals. Billboard doesn't count bulk purchases.

I read someone said that after he played for the shareholders, Wal-Mart doubled their order, which is jst not the way Wal-Mart does business. They use computer models and analysis to decide what to buy - not emotional reactions to one performance.

walmart doubling their order is no indication of it selling well or not. what if walmarts order was only 100,000? doubling that isn't much.

LMMFAO why one would buy so much is insane.
They don't? Well that sucks. I bet they will buy them separately. I mean it will be embarrasing if you buy 46476457 copies of them at one stop. I remember whenever Hilary Duff's "So Yesterday" CD single was out, I bought many copies, but seperately, because I wouldn't want to be looked at weird for buying more than one copy of it at the same time. So I bought one, walked around Wal-mart for a bit, came back to the electronics, bought another, etc.

Based on the 'Inside Your Heaven' thread from a year ago, Carrie was #5 on the iTunes singles chart exactly at this point (& mysteriously #1 on the album chart) - Tuesday, 6/14.
It didn't get to be the # 1 single on iTunes until 11am on the third day of sale (6/16).
So, yeah numerically Taylor is much further behind. But of course so many more downloads this year ...
