Thanks for posting the chart. :) I didn't get a chance to listen this morning.
I don't understand why AC hasn't latched onto "The Voice Within". The song is easy to like and very suited to the format. I mean, it should be in the top 5 along with "Fallen", "White Flag" and "You Raise Me Up".
Instead, songs like "Unwell", 'Drift Away" and "Calling All Angels" continue to block the way at the top of the chart, while relatively newer songs retain lower positions and make miniscule movements.
Sometimes, it's just a little frustrating.

Yeah, but at least (IMO, anyway) it wasn't as bad as the songs hogging the top positions of the chart in 2002 (i.e. "Hero", "Superman (It's Not Easy)"). I still sort of like the songs you mentioned above, but you are right, A/C should start concentrating on the newer songs. So I guess Tim McGraw's cover of "Tiny Dancer" is out of the running, huh? That's too bad, it was such a great rendition. But then again, A/C stations would rather just play "Forever And For Always" over and over again.

I don't understand why AC hasn't latched onto "The Voice Within". The song is easy to like It's also easy to dislike. It starts out okay, but like most of Christina's recent songs, she starts overscreeching it later in the song and ruins it. Yes, it is. She has so much vocal talent and chooses to waste it by oversinging bad songs.

Exactly. Christina has an incredible voice, but "I Turn To You" and "The Voice Within" are the only two of her nine singles where she actually shows it. And as Cribbins mentioned, she oversings somewhat on "The Voice Within", which is why "I Turn To You" is by far my favorite song from her.

I'm pretty sure it's run its 20-week course.

Who knows? I thought "In A Little While" by Uncle Kracker had run its 20-week course, too and it re-entered this past fall I believe (or at least late summer).

This is just a theory, but I think when a song is moved to recurrent on the Top 30 R&R chart, then there's little chance of it coming back. (Of course there are exceptions, like " Don't Know Why" and "Can't Fight The Moonlight. ")
But it seems that when a song merely slides off the R&R Top 30, which is what "In A Little While" did, then it's "safe" to appear on Casey's AC chart, as long as it's not accruing any more weeks in the R&R Top 30.
In other words, you've got to keep tabs on the R&R chart to know how things are working on Casey's chart. Kind of like not being able to follow the first season of The Colbys without keeping up on Dynasty.

Kind of like not being able to follow the first season of The Colbys without keeping up on Dynasty.Oh, so "Peace (Where The Heart Is) was on the R&R chart the whole time? I didn't stop to think of that -it was probably in the Top 20 all the time, too, since I'd hear it on Delilah constantly. Yeah, I did notice that songs that fall off the R&R chart via the recurrent rule are also removed from the chart that AT20 uses. That is, unless they're still in the Top Ten of that chart (as "Hero" spent an extra week on the chart last year having been removed from the corresponding R&R chart). Even when AT20 was using that weird Mediabase chart for the last few months of 2000 and the first half of 2001, songs did this. That explains the 18-14-off move of Gloria Estefan's "Can't Walk Away From Love" and how "Thank You For Loving Me" by Bon Jovi slipped off the chart the same week as the chart was "purged" of older songs. It would otherwise have been sucked back up the chart (as "Can I Have This Kiss Forever" by Whitney and Enrique did the week AT20 switched charts). " Don't Know Why" wasn't really an exception, as it was re-released and when it went back up into the Top Fifteen it was allowed to rechart. I don't know what they did to allow "Can't Fight The Moonlight" to chart again - they used some weird recurrent rule for that one.

"Can't Fight The Moonlight" was re-released. Even though it didn't hit the Top 40 the first time it came out in 2000, LeAnn wanted to put it out again under her new contract.
" Don't Know Why" seemed to be let back on the chart after it did so well at the Grammys.

It would otherwise have been sucked back up the chart (as "Can I Have This Kiss Forever" by Gloria and Enrique did the week AT20 switched charts). You typed the same artist twice in a row. It's "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" by Whitney and Enrique.
