I've loved this song ever since I was like seven. When was it released? My sister bought me the cassette single and I used to slow it down on my family's old tape player to try to figure out what was being said in the fast part. Since I never figured it out, I just made up my own lyrics to that part. I almost remember slowing it down on the tape player as vividly as I remember talking over the "On Bended Knee" instrumental by Boyz II Men during one of my "talk shows." Do any of you remember this song?

I love it! It hit the Top 40 around May or June 1995. I remember trying to convince a friend that it hit the Top 40 and she would NOT believe me because it wasn't a song that radio would play. LOL!

I know, the song's sort of like the "Louie Louie" of the 1990s. I looked up the lyrics on the internet, but all the sites say "the fast part again" when they get to the chorus. This song has the distinction of being a song that dropped out of the Top 40 the week after it peaked. Its Top 40 run was 39-36-33-31-off. I did tape part of the chorus from the song as U93 played it as part of their Top 93 of 1995, when it came in at number 91.

I've got the CD single, and I've never been able to figure out what she's saying in that fast part either. Love the song anyway!

It was too left fieldish for me to enjoy when I was twelve, but if I made a hindsight top songs of 1994 list, this would probably be in the top 10. Kay Hanley's vocals are so sexy and I'm mad that I never got the chance to hear anymore of the band's other tracks.

Don't they have a song called 'I Want You To Want Me' on a soundtrack of some sort? I think there's a CD of theirs downtown in one of the used CD shops down there. I should pick it up. I have the mp3 for 'Here And Now' and listen to it maybe on a bi-weekly basis.

Don't they have a song called 'I Want You To Want Me' on a soundtrack of some sort? That's a cheapTrick cover and it's on the soundtrack to "10 Things I Hate About You." The band is also seen singing it on top a roof during the closing credits. I haven't heard this Letters to Cleo song but I've heard their song in the "Baby Sitter's Club" movie! :) The lead singer Kay Hanley (sp?) went on to sing as "Josie" on all the songs on the terrific "Josie and The Pussycats" soundtrack.

This song use to annoy me so much when it was out. My pop station played it quite a bit. I have grown to like it now.

Hmm... here's an overly sensitive censoring function. This song kicked ass. I really wish it had been a bigger hit, so I could've heard it more. If this song ever turns up on a pay-download site, I'll have no problem shelling out 99 cents for this. "Awake" was also pretty good, as was the first single on their 1997 album. "Go", maybe? I can't remember...

I have it!
The comfort of the knowledge of a rise above the sky above could never parallel the challenge of an acquisition in the Here and Now, Here and Now...

A great song by a great band. I think their follow-up album, Wholesale Meats and Fish, was even better than the self-titled one. Whole bunch of great songs.
codenut makes me feel old though, talking about "when i was seven"..man, this song came out when I was in college. Used to see the video when I watched "Alternative Nation" on MTV.
