I thought that this woman was a Latin dance singer. Way before this was a top 40 hit a friend of mine from Miami played this song for me and I feel in love with it. Then when most of my peers started killing this due to Top 40 exposure I was over this song for a while. Yet today it is still a classic!

I quite like it. I can definitely see where the Latin vibe comes from, as it is essentially a freestyle song masqueraded as dance-pop.
I'm a bit surprised how few replies there are, as it's not an obscure song or anything.

It's funny because I still see this occasionally referred to as a freestyle classic, but I feel like since the rest of her material wasn't really freestyle that this song is only sometimes referred to as being freestyle.

The one that started that great singles run for Ms. Wonderman.
This also has undergone some remixes through the years. And some covers, too (including a new dance one, can't thin of the act, though- it's a guy that sounds like a female when he sings).

Catchy 80's classic. Love the production on this and how deliciously dated it is. That keyboard breakdown before the bridge, haha.
I can't believe this only peaked at #7. Seems way bigger than that, at least top 3 if not #1.

This is easily my favorite Taylor Dayne songs. Taylor's powerful vocals were what drew me towards this song. The hooks and the lyrics are so catchy. The Freestyle meets Hi Nrg production is on point. I didn't love the T-Empo and Tony De Vit remixes from the mid 90s re-release. I did really love this bootleg from 2002 by Wayne G issued on a white label in the UK by the Sol Productions label. They used the Percapella from the 12" single to make these versions. The popularity of the bootlegs on that white label led to the All Around The World label having Kelly Llorenna record a cover based on these versions. Those were complete and utter shite. And some covers, too (including a new dance one, can't thin of the act, though- it's a guy that sounds like a female when he sings). That's Jason Walker. He's known for his distinctive falsetto vocals. I was a big fan of his material from when he was signed to the Junior Vasquez Music label during the mid 2000s. He has done a number of collaborations with Tony Moran for his label.

^Yes- since I posted that, I came to become familiar with him, mostly via my partner, who's a fan. :)

Heard this song for the first time last year, right before I was going to meet Taylor for my job. It's a bop & Taylor is just a wonderful woman. Deserves more credit!

When I was younger, I couldn't stand this song (as well as her ballads like "Love Would Lead You Back") due to overplay on the AC stations (100.3 and Lite FM 93.9 both played this as 80s gold and it likely got airplay on B96 as well). As I got older, however, this grew on me and I consider it one of the best 80s dance-pop records of all time as well as her best song.
