I know this was a common thing back in the mid to late 90s but how common is it these days? What are some songs from the last 15 years or so that made the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but didn't make the CHR/Pop R&R Top 40 chart?
I just noticed one on the first page mentioned already.
R. Kelly - Down Low -#4 Billboard? -n/c R&R/Pop

The ultimates, of course, are those that hit #1 on the Hot 100 without touching the R&R pop chart. First one that comes to mind is "Hypnotize" by the Notorious B.I.G. I don't think that song even made New & Active, let alone the R&R Top 50.

"How Do You Want It" from 1996. It was #1 and I don't think it even made the R&R Top 40.

The flip side of "How Do You Want It" called "California Love" did make the R&R chart in early 1996.

And spent 26 weeks (or was it 28 weeks) on as well with a peak of #29. I believe it spent just one or two weeks inside the Top 30. Does anyone have the full chart run on hand? lol!

I know this is going beyond the spectrum, but believe it or not, there were a few songs from the 1980s (namely, 1982) that didn't make the R&R chart. Those were:
"Pac Man Fever" by Buckner & Garcia "Let It Whip" by the Dazz Band "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" by Deneice Williams.
Granted, the R&R chart was a Top 30 chart back then, and I'm not sure if these songs made the New & Active section, but still.

How about "This is the Night" by Clay Aiken which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 but only made #46 on R&R? Does it count for this topic thread?

Two more from 1982-83 (both of which were Top 10 hits on the Hot 100): "You And I" by Eddie Rabbitt & Crystal Gayle "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring

This thread didn't specify a level of the chart (i.e. Top 40), so just charting at all is probably enough to disqualify - meaning no, Clay doesn't count. Here are a few Country ones: Rascal Flatts - "What Hurts the Most" I certainly hope you're either kidding or just forgetful. Carrie Underwood - "Inside Your Heaven" This actually doesn't count either, albeit only barely. Inside Your Heaven spent a single week on the pop chart at #48.

For "What Hurts The Most" and "Inside Your Heaven", I misread the thread title and and thought it said "Top 10 on the Pop chart". My mistake. But I am right about the Tim songs and "Life Is A Highway".
Of course, thinking it through, there's way too many songs that hit the Top 10 on the Hot 100 and not Top 10 on the Pop chart for this to really be a legitimate thread.
