I used to love this song. I believe it was a remake. I remember when I traveled to Germany at 15 this was a popular track in Europe, It went to #1 on CHR for multiple weeks. Man, I loved Ace of Base, where are they now? :(
They were an awesome pop act. They had some other great songs like "The Sign," "All That She Wants," and and their remake of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer," which should have did way better on the pop charts. I cried when they only peaked at #19 with it. That was a cruel summer indeed for me back in 1998.
Every song by Ace of Base I loved!

I don't even know what my favorite song from the album was. They all sounded the same anyway.
Ace Of Base released a CD recently in Europe.

There are at least 2 different versions of this song. There's the album version, which is so-so, and a more upbeat mix that American Top 20 plays. That ones a lot better. This song spent 6 weeks at #1 in the summer of 1994. I'm not sure who wrote it, but it was an AC hit for Neil Diamond.
My Ace of Base favorites:
1) Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry 2) Living In Danger 3) Don't Turn Around 4) All That She Wants 5) Beautiful Life 6) Lucky Love 7) The Sign 8) Cruel Summer
"All that she wants is another baby, she's gone tomorrow."

I remember my pop radio station would edit the rap out at the end of the song.

There's a reggae version by Aswad that came out around the same time or maybe a little bit earlier. I liked it because I was finally able to figure out what Ace of Base was singing: "It's tearing me apart that you're leaving."

I loved most of their songs. I believe this one was my #2 song of '94.

It was written by Diane Warren... or at least co-written.
When I burnt off the Top 100 songs of 1994 in a 6-CD set a few years ago, I downloaded the reggae version of the song. Since I had a >56k modem at the time, beggers couldn't be choosers.
I love it! The week this hit #1 was the week I make my first cassette tape!

I like the version aired on AT20. I agree. That version has more bass in it and the beginning is different. It doesn't start out with "I will survive without you."

I would like to hear Tina Turner's version. Rick Dees mentioned it once but unfortunately, did not play a drop.

I love the song, too! WWJK (94-7 Jack FM) has played a remix(?) of Don't Turn Around a few times lately.

I wasn't that familiar with this until hearing it a few times recently...it's as good as "All That She Wants" and "The Sign".[/font]

LOL. I have this album and it's true that most of the songs sound alike. But they're all great. It's kind of annoying now.

I would like to hear Tina Turner's version. Rick Dees mentioned it once but unfortunately, did not play a drop. Tina Turner's is more rock-oriented. It was during her Bryan Adams sessions and released on the b-side of the "Typical Male" single. A very similar version came out a couple years later by Bonnie Tyler as well. If you'd like to hear the Tina Turner version, you can stream it along with a lot of other great tunes from the old radio show archived here: www.archive.org/details/cftp-1994-08-12

Ahh, this was my introduction to pop, and all music for that matter.
A toast to those swedes and painful childhood memories!

At this point it's probably my 2nd favorite by them, after "All That She Wants".
