This was a pretty good track. I remember it got a lot of airplay when it came out.
I liked the version that came out on his Beautiful Experience album. I thought the one on the Gold Experience album lost some of its original "oomph." The beat was not so heavy on the latter, and it was more like a ballad this time.

I didn't like this when it was out. Now I like it.

Probably my favorite Prince song still. Bought the single, got The Beautiful Experience (it plus 6 remixes), got The Gold Experience, and like Disco Dude From Outer Space, I also found that version to be disappointing (as well as finding out it was different in the first place!)

I guess this song is ok, but it pales in comparison to Prince classics like "Litlle Red Corvette" or "When Doves Cry".

I loved it when it was released. My sister got the cassette single and it was one of the only songs I knew of at the time.

I didn't like the way that it leapfrogged over Mariah Carey's "Without You", preventing her from extending her streak to eleven. But ten's a good round number and besides, Mariah's streak would have ended with her next single.
For some reason, I rather like the song, considering the fact that I usually don't like that type of music.

The week before he hit #1, she lost #2 to All-4-One's "So Much in Love".

I have a love/hate relationship with this song. It's really garbage coming from Prince, but it's an okay pop song if you're speaking in general.

I like it. He's had so many big hits that it's hard to remember this track. Prince wrote this song for one of my favorite actresses, Vanessa Marcil, and she even made an appearance in the video.

I loved this to death when it came out. My fondness has waned more recently though. I still like it, but not sure if it'd make my Top 10 Prince songs now.

i was 5 going on 6 when this was released so this is the Prince song i have the fondest memories of it got MASSIVE airplay when it was released it peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 & #2 on R&B i believe it was held back by Aaliyah's debut single "Back and Forth"

The more balladish version was the one released to radio, which rose to a peak position of #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in '94. It was also a moderate AC hit, which says a lot for Prince, since he rarely hit that chart during his heyday.
But should this song really be credited to Prince? This was during the time when he was the Artist Formerly Known as Prince, or the O(+> symbol.

I love this song and don't know if I actually would have heard it back then. I knew "Gold" at the time, though.
