This has been no secret for the longest time now, but with Christmas approaching, the AC trends are getting ridiculous.
Yesterday, Josh Groban was the Greatest Gainer, and today he's gains are down to a +5!!!

That makes a chart fun because now you never know what will happen! Although it can be a piss-off for your favourite song if it goes from +1000 to +10 in a matter of a few days!

I think the right term is "instability"! ;)
Wait till next week when a lot more stations change to all-Christmas. I wonder which songs will be able to fight off this switch and maintain a strong position on the chart...

Clay Aiken, Dido, Sheryl Crow, & Sarah McLachlan are now the only bullets in the top 20. There are no bullets in the top 10

Last year's stats, based on AT20 Sunday airdates:
Nov. 24: 9 bullets.
Dec. 1: 8 bullets.
Dec. 8: 3 bullets ("I'm Gonna Getcha Good," "Landslide," "Forever For You").
Dec. 15: no bullets, but "Landslide" slides up 6 notches.
Jan. 5, 2003: no bullets.
Jan. 12: 19 bullets (the only one dropping in spins was "You" by Jim Brickman f/Jane Krakowski.

I don't like the AC charts because of the instabilty. I think that AC radio is in dire straits. There are alot of really good songs that are not getting played eventhough they would fit perfectly in this format.

I think that AC radio is in dire straits. AC is far from dire straits. In NYC, Hartford, and Boston, AC stations are the highest rated FM stations. The format itself is very strong.

Sarah McLachlan is now the only song in the Top 20 with a bullet, +47. Compared to 9 last year at this time.

The first 2 casualities of the Christmas season are Christina Aguilera & the Eagles. Both fall below #15 this week.
