Full title: Only Love (The Ballad Of Sleeping Beauty)
This was her third hit from the Gold selling 'Whaler' album, and her last entry on the hot 100 to date. It peaked at #49 there, and #19 on the Pop charts. Interestingly, she had three hits from that album in 3 different years! Right Beside You went top 20 in 1994, As I lay Me Down finally peaked in 95, and by the time that died out and this charted it was 1996!
It's my least favourite of her four hits, but I love it. In the UK we got the much poppier 'Don't Don't Tell Me No' instead, which only got to #36.
In the lyric booklet of my whaler album, the lyrics to the first verse are listed as 'You f*cked with my head, you f*cked with the dead, now i'm gonna f*ck with you". On the album though the word F*ck is replaced by 'Mess'. Does anyone know if there's a version out there with the swearing? I'd like to hear it.

OK song. Much better than that awful "As I Lay Me Down".

Love it! My favourite of hers. There were a few tracks from Whaler that I loved including 'Don't Tell Me No' and 'Swing From Limb To Limb'.
I too would like to hear this supposed other version of this song. I assume the first pressing of the album prolly had it. Anyone have the radio remix of this track?

I was gonna mention that when I saw this thread (coincidentally, Seal did the same thing, with "Prayer For The Dying" in '94, "Kiss From A Rose" in '95, and "Don't Cry" in '96 all from the same album). Great song... the album version appeared on the CD single for "Right Beside You". I also wish I had the radio remix.

OK, but not nearly as good as "Right Beside You."
