From back in 1997 of her self-titled debut... a very catchy tune that did OK here in the states, getting up to around #22 on R&R's Hot AC chart I believe... it was actually the 2nd single of her CD... "Birmingham" got to #17 at CHR/Pop ... but it was "Fall From Grace" that really turned me into a fan... ended up beating some really strong competition for the #1 song of the year on my 1997 personal charts... "Dark Horse", "Let It Rain" and "Trust Me (This Is Love)" are also standout tracks...
Although the CD only sold around 500,000 copies here in the US., it actually ended up going DIAMOND in Canada with sales of over 1,000,000... The ENTIRE CD is good... no FILLER... and I think I only have about 10 such (non compilation) CD's in my collection...

I remember this one. I thought Amanda would've had more success than what she had. Not as good as "Birmingham", though.

I liked this one a lot, more than "Birmingham".
Strong debut album.

I liked this one a lot, more than "Birmingham". Strong debut album. Glad to see I'm not the only one to remember this amazing singer... I still spike both "Fall From Grace" and "Birmingham" a couple of times a week... I still can't figure out to this day why she didn't do as well in the States or at least remotely close to what she did in Canada... Definitlely would be in my all-time top 25 best albums...

This song actually peaked at #40 for a single week on R&R after 'Birmingham'. I was surprised both made the chart actually. It seemed like Amanda came and went just like that and hasn't charted since. Her total time on the Top 40 was probably like 13 weeks between two songs.

You don't happen to have the Hot AC peak positions, do you??? As for her making the charts, I know initially her record label gave her a BIG push... and that helped "Birmingham" immensely.

She is very good... I feel like her debut album is a classic, but unfortunately she did not get better with time.
I remember wishing she became a star in the US when she released Birmingham. A lot of her songs have been re-recorded and turned into country hits. (Sitting on Top of The World (Leann Rimes), Dark Horse (Mila Mason), and Birmingham) to name a few.
Chalk her up to artists that should have cracked the US but didn't

This album, along with Jennifer Paige's "Positively Somewhere" are 2 of the "best albums that no one in the U.S. knows about"... with the proper promotion and positioning they both could have been platinum or mult-platinum here....

Oops. I meant the #40 peak was the peak for CHR/Pop for this song. I'm absolutely sure....or was it #39?

You're correct... it spent a single week in the CHR/Pop top 40 at number 40... shows you just how strong the songs were that year, that a song this good could only manage to get to #40... probably the strongest chart year along with 1998 since the heyday of CHR/Pop in '83-'84...

Another gem from her. Her debut album is virtually flawless.

A really great song. Amanda is so talented, and all of the singles from her debut album are great. It's really a shame that record label issues sidelined her career, and she effectively stopped recording.
