I'm listening to Billboard Radio and they said "Unpretty" started out as a poem. "Under The Bridge" started out as a poem. You can move this to Music News if it belongs there.

I'm sure Jewel has had a lot of songs that started out as poems.

Alannah Myles 'Song Instead Of A Kiss'
It samples some poem, not by her.

I heard on MTV that many of Norah Jones' songs off her Come Away With Me CD started out as poems before she supplied the music...

"That's The Way Love Goes." Maybe it wasn't a poem to begin with, but the song starts out with a poem about a moth. :)

"I Love You Always Forever" either came from a novel or a poem called "Love For Lydia."

"All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow (which is why the lyrics are so goofy).

More of a nursery rhyme than a poem: "Three Little Pigs" by Green Jelly.

Wasn't "Twister" a poem before Mariah put it on "Glitter" ?

"Run-Around" starts out with a line from "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe.
