Call me a dork, but I use to sing along to "The Song That Doesn't End" before heading off to school! Shari Lewis' Lamb Chop, Charley Horse, and the gang were so cool. :) This kid at school named Robert Ryu made fun of me even though he said him and his sisters sing it. Gosh, talk about conforming to look cool in grade school. What a lo-loser. "This is a song that doesn't end Yes it goes on and on my friends Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was. And they will continue singing it forever Just because.."

Why do you mention these people's actual names as if we know who you're talking about?

Shari Lewis is my all-time favorite children's entertainer. I remember my entire class singing this song one day!
She was one of those who can entertain both children, and their parents without the kids getting bored, or the parents feeling silly. She's one in a million!

Isn't it called "The Song That Never Ends"? It brings back good memories of Shari Lewis's show. :)

Whatever it is, it is soooo annoying. There was this one little girl who came over to my house with her parents (they were friends of my mother). One day, I was upstairs playing Super Mario 2 on my NES, trying to figure out how to kill the big boss. I didn't know they (let's call them the Browns) were over until I heard the girl coming up the stairs, singing the song in question. She was always singing something, so I didn't pay much attention until I noticed she kept singing the same thing over and over again. Between that and my frustration with the game, I was already beginning to become very annoyed and said her name several times, but she kept on singing and singing. Finally, I screamed her name and she whined, "What?" I asked her to stop her singsong and she said something like, "You interrupted me just to say that? I was going for the world's record!" I asked her how long she thought the record was and she said two hours. I told her that the record was a hell of a lot longer than two hours, more like two hundred hours. Then she goes, "Oh well, I'll have to sing a little longer" Then before she could get the first line out, I cut her off again and explained to her that she was going to need someone from the Guinness Book of World Records there to verify that she actually sang for so long, that is if she made it, because two hundred hours is about nine days. She began bawling and ran downstairs, then her mother comes upstairs and begins bitching me out, saying that she told her daughter the record was two hours "to give her something easy to shoot for". As it turned out, she wasn't trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records or anything. Uh, hello, that sort of defeats the purpose of breaking a record, doesn't it? Anyway, after that aggravating episode, I've always hated "The Song That Never Ends" (or "Song That Doesn't End", whatever it is).

LOL that's hilarious ulij20!! World record! I can't stop singing this song. I always thought it was "The Song That Never Ends" too.. but I could only find lyrics for "Doesn't End." I want to buy the soundtrack someday since I can't find any clips online. I also liked the Lamp Chop's Play-Along (or Sing-Along, not sure) opening theme song! Also, I won't start a new topic (bc no one will probably remember it) but I loved the Puzzle Place theme song too! "The Puzzle Place, the Puzzle Place, We're going to the Puzzle Place... Sizzle and Nuzzle are a double treat..." blah blah blah! This girl and I use to make up sex stories about Sizzle and Nuzzle lol! Also, I love the "Zoom!" theme song ("C'mon and zoom, c'mon and zoom, c'mon and zooma zooma zooma zoooom!")

It's a good song to sing on long bus rides for school trips. Yes, especially if you want the bus driver to intentionally drive into oncoming traffic. Fun!! ;)

The current EvanJay single actually samples this song! It's called 'The Day That Never Ends'. Cool stuff!

The current EvanJay single actually samples this song! It's called 'The Day That Never Ends'. Cool stuff! Shouldn't that be "The Equation That Never Gets Simplified" or "The Math That Never Ends" or "Giving Pi To Decimal Places That Never End"? Oh! "The Repeating Decimal That Never Ends"?

or i'd tell them i quit driving if someone did that... this song is just as annoying on that "bottles of beer on the Wall" song.... UGH! I remember one time, when I was on choir tour in college, one day we had a long haul, from Fayetteville Georgia back to Mishawaka, Indiana (adjacent to South Bend), so we're talking a fourteen hour drive. Several kids got the idea to sing the "bottles of beer" song starting at friggin' ONE THOUSAND bottles! Finally, after they sang for about an hour, the choir director became annoyed and made them stop, much to everyone's relief. By then, they were down to 700-something bottles of beer.

That's what I thought too... but I couldn't find the lyrics to verify it. All the sites have "Doesn't End." Did you check Yahoo? I found a site that actually has the lyrics to "the song that never ends". It goes: This is the song that never ends It just goes on and on my friend Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they'll go on singing it forever just because This is the song that never ends... (That, by the way, was the lyrics that bratty girl I mentioned in my first post was singing).

Looks like some suggestibility played a part in ALL those sites posting the "doesn't" lyrics! Hey, I learned something in psychology class!

The lyrics I got were:
This is the song that doesn't end Yes it goes on and on my friend Some people started singing not knowing what it was And they'll continue singing it forever just because This is the song that doesn't end...

I love this! I guess I've just never had to deal with it enough to get annoyed with it. By the way, if I were driving a bus and the kids started singing this, I'd sing along! Of course for bus songs, nothing beats "99 Bottles of Beer on The Wall" (or more bottles if it's a really long ride). Oh, and it's definately "The Song That Doesn't End"...I remember it very distinctly from the end of Lamb Chop's Play Along (which I was probably too old for at the time it was on, but I watched it anyway).
