Sheesh- I do hope the Clive stuff doesn't dwell too much around but Kelly seems to be handling things right. I love Whitney but hate that "I'm Every Woman" song- I don't think she can pull that off anyway. Ryan Seacrest is a douche bag so who cares about him.

2) am i a complete moron to not know what song "LWS" is? My Life Would Suck Without You - I find it easier to type LWS than MLWSWY.

I found this on the Express - it's kind of OT, but it's interesting.
It looks like we'll get to hear the duet with Daughtry after all...just not with Kelly and Chris singing it. It's on Nick Lachey's (he co-wrote it) album and Kara DioGuardi sings it with him.

I don't "wannabringyadown", but Clive Davis was on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this am and provided "his opinion" about Kelly's current success and the concept of singers attempting to song-write, after Ryan brought Kelly and the topic up. Good job at kissing *ss, Seacrest ! Judge for yourself: www.kiisfm.com/main.htmlthank u so much for that interview . very interesting to listen to what this man thinks. I've never really heard what clive had to say about the whole MD mess. It's all kelly who was attacking and attacking, and also her firm manager. clive never really said anything direct to the press about it, in fact clive even left her name out on his speech lol

So its all hunky dory for leona lewis to "explore and develop her song writing talent". clive added right away "in the capacity of CO-WRITER". I just listened to the clive ryan interview, it's very "interesting" to see how he thinks. To clive, kelly obviously is one of his premier/top pop singer with powerful voice, and throaty voice (REALLY??? clive, if you want a throaty voice, go listen to carrie underwear!ew..) According to clive, there are 3 diferent 'level' of pop artists on his rosters: 1. artist who writes their own material from the get go and was signed as a singer/songwriter, where clive would nurture them and help them with opportunity (her highness alicia keys) 2. artist who was signed as a singer, but develop their song writ]ting talent as their career go on and able include that aspect to their work (avril lavigne, xtina aguilera and soon to be, leona lewis) 3. a singer . they do not/will not develop song writing skill. they depend (aka.MUST work) on(with) professional team of hit makers for their ENTIRE career, otherwise their career would suffer (lack of sales and hit singles) (kelly) Its so funny when ryan was talking about leona is starting to write her next album with JT, without missing a bit clive was like "in the capacity of CO-WRITER" LOL . He doesnt want to get them confused lol Leona doesnt get to write her material , she will CO-write haha, and when she starts 'complaining/moaning' about wanting to do her own thing, she would be bump down to level 3 with kelly lol I agree about clicking great material with great singer like kelly. that force joined together is unstoppable!

Why you all so bitter about Leona getting to write, or co-write, her own material? Scared she might actually be able to write a hit song? Or even a catchy hook, for that matter? Eh?

Kelly has co-written 4 of her biggest hits. ??? Plus, she wrote NA, which I consider a hit since it sold over 1,000,000 downloads. So that makes 5 she's written. She's proven herself to be a successful songwriter already, but in Kelly's case Clive has blinders on when it comes to the facts. Do you, LeonaLewis, seriously think people are upset at Clive about the Leona thing because they're scared of Leona's talent. I don't think you get it, obviously.

yes, they are upset with the fact that clive didnt see song writing talent in kelly and dismissed her as pretty much just a (great) singer. They are upset with the fact clive doesnt have any problem with leona (or any of his artist that writes/co-writes) writing with justin, but he wont let kelly. I dont get some of the fans, DID KELLY NOT WRITE 4 SONGS WITH RYAN TEDDER THAT WILL MAKE THE ALBUM? One of them is ALREADY GONE, which is one of the featured track/possible strong single contender?
And leona lewis fan, dont get too carry away, leona is only allowed to CO-WRITE (as clive said right away, "in a capacity as co-writer". dont celebrate too early. trust us, we've dealed with clive since 02. unless u are the majesty her excellency alicia keys, clive would say "I DON'T HEAR SINGLE" .

Clive is a douche nozzle!! Goodness......WHY does that guy NOT give Kelly credit for her songwriting??? What crawled up his ass??? How is Kelly ANY different than Avril, Christina, Leona, etc. WHY isn't Kelly able to "develop" her writing skills???? WHAT does that guy have against her writing abilites?? ??? Ok, sorry about that! Anyway, when Ryan said "Kelly aside" I took it as a switch in conversation, I don't think he was attaching Kelly with the question that was next. He is a jerk for the "Kelly back on track" comment though. How can someone be nice to some one's face and then turn around and say things against them? I have never understood that and it is so annoying.

No-one is bitter regarding Leona. I hope Leona writes some good stuff and I am glad she has the oppurtunity to write but it pisses's us KC fans off because Kelly Clarkson has already proven she is a brilliant Songwriter and Clive is being a stubborn bastard because of My December. Honestly, I hate him. The issues lie with Clive not Leona. My December for me was so thereputic, the lyrics were stunning (as were the songs as a whole) and it pisses me off how Clive turns a blind eye to this. It's a struggle to get used to the lyrics in LWS when you have the brilliant lyrics in Maybe, Never Again, Because of You, Be Still, How I Feel etc. I don't understand why he doesn't let her write her own stuff with the top producers and writers that he wants her to work with. And let them united create a masterpiece. Urgggh. I hate him. How long has he got left?

JMO, of course, but I believe that if Kelly had agreed to let one or two professional songwriters help polish the material, MD would have been a smash hit. Anyway, this subject is... I'm totally into enjoying the success of Kelly's new era.

^^ def. Lyric comes 2nd in pop radio. It's all about melody, mainstream-sound production, vocal production, and beats. How I Feel, One Minute could have been hits with different vocal production and different producers (max and luke could have turned those 2 to another typical kelly SUBG/MLWSWY power pop/rock anthem, while vocal wise they would make it not as raw, it would be like subg/suck polished/layer/overproduced.) max/luke's One Minute would be a hit. Max/Luke's How I Feel could have been HUGE. that song is so catchy, but everything else came up short for pop radio sound/standard (which kelly def. was NOT going for anyway during MD). Never Again could have been a bigger hit with a melody fixed here and there on the chorus , also with different vocal production, and a totally new bridge. Those stripped down screaming fest on the bridge of NA is just too much for pop/top 40 radio i think. Same thing goes for JUDAS. that song has potential, still needs alot of work though. Sober also could have been a hit. with some melody and chord changes. All those minor chord on sober (especially the verses) just really killed the song imo. the melody is sort of going nowhere, on top of all those minor chord. too dark for pop. DWYT was a great track, go listen to youtube. they have the original version up. This instrumental track has SO MUCH potential, until kelly came and laid down her "blah"/lack of melody. This is her main weakness i think, melody. Listen to Don't, Come Here, all/most of MD have the same kind of repeating melody that was just there/hanging/doesnt go anywhere/no or wrong executions with no variety. The songs she did that have wonderful rich melody are Because Of You and All I Know (unreleased). These 2 still have the repeating melody, but she executed them PERFECTLY. It has the beginning part, climax part, the part that hooks your ear ... It's still more of misses than hits for me when it comes to melody of her self writen song MAYBE, BE STILL, HOLE (this meant to be a hard rock screaming song as is imo) should be left as is The rest of the track should never seen the light of day. Bonus tracks like dirty little secreet and not today are better than some MD track.
Anyway, MD would continue to be a mystery. No one would really know what happened (aside from clive/firm/kelly), I dont think we'll ever find out, while her fans would believe whatever they would like to believe. I just dont agree with blaming everything on clive davis/RCA. the materials itself just wasnt up to par IMO. They did promoted Never Again like crazy, with all those live performances on TV. Still, NA first week digital sales was only 100K. NA went to iTunes after a few weeks of airplay and several TV performances. People were def aware Kelly had a new single with NA back then. "suck" went to iTunes on the same week it went for adds, 0 live performance ---> 270K. Now you tell me if it's all clive's fault. NA went to iTunes the week they had IDOL GIVES BACK, as kelly performed UTTM superbly (chills!!) underwood got the hot shot debut with her "i stand by you" , as itunes saw HUGE traffic that week, but still NA couldnt rack up big numbers. clearly people are just feeling "suck" alot more than NA, as simple as that. Kelly has the right as an artist to explore and grow, we dont want her to be another rihanna or britney (no offense to either one, but it's the truth come on, we all knew this), but the general mainstream public seems to like poppy/bubblegum/sing along catchy hit KELLY than the piece of art of MD. Not Clive's fault. All 3 parties (clive-firm-kelly) made huge mistakes during the MD era. You cant really blame clive, or blame kelly. It was all 'team' effort contributing negativity to an average material at best. result? DISASTER.
Kelly was able to overcome and came out on the other side after Justin To Kelly almost unscratched. MD was an even bigger obstacle, since it's MUSIC which is her main thing, but she GOT over it too! I expected album sales to be a little slow at first, she needs to convince and win people's 'trust' back to her poppy sugary bubblegum side. A couple more hit singles should do the trick.
AMEN

And maybe if Clive hadn't been the way he is with Kelly then maybe that could have happened. The fact that he kept giving her songs that had been passed up by other artists and songs that had already been recorded eg. the song that was already on Lindsay Lohans year old album then maybe they could have worked it that she wrote with this "professional" team of his. As it worked out, she gave up on him after she wasn't getting any quality songs from him, and decided to write it herself along with her band. (eta: I believe Kelly stated all this in some interview when she was ASKED and she answered honestly. She wasn't whining, she was just answering the reporter's question. ) I thought it came out pretty damned good too, with several songs that would have done well on radio if her label hadn't sabotaged the songs and the album. Ancient history I guess though. Hopefully some people that buy this new album, that from the looks of things is going to be a hit, will go out and check out and buy MD. That would be the icing on the cake. If I remember correctly, Kelly had been writing with her band during her breakaway tours. I'm sure they had planned it actually. I remember reading an article that says RCA heads were surprised that kelly just showed up, unlike other artist, turned in her material on the set date, and basically go "here is the new album" LOL I bet when kelly played it for the first time, clive wished he was dead LOL . I wish i could see these RCA's head faces LOL , especially during HOLE haha or YEAH lol

OOOOOH- I can't wait to see and hopefully hear Kelly perform live tonight ! On a side note, I sincerely hope she makes a better fashion choice tonight, because her choice at the pre-Grammy party from 2006 was just hideous ! (see below) BTW- in addition to having the #1 music video on iTunes, she has the #1 video on aol.com ( music.aol.com/video-hub/), but curiously has #2 song on aol.com. I got a nice chuckle out of seeing who was #1: music.aol.com/song/

Kelly doesn't always make the best fashion choices. I'm sure she'll look great tonight though. I've gotta find a picture from last era of her wearing this interesting blue outfit. ETA: This one!

I LOOOVVEED the way she looked at Clive's Pre-Grammy party in 06. I loved the hair, the outfit, everything. I think the real fashion blunder was the red hippie dress she wore while performing at the actual awards ceremony.
