After listening to the two short clips of her performances, the reason for the huge standing ovation Kelly got is obvious. She was totally on top of her art that night. Wonderful.

Kelly's voice is usually amazing late at night... so I'm not surprised she did so well at Clive's party.

I especially loved seeing all these pictures with Miley and Swift and Perry, and the rest of her peers. Compared to all the other singers, Kelly completely outdoes them vocally. I just wish she'd work on her image and then she'd rule all. Seriously, though, the last time she attended Clive's party, she looked AMAZING.

I wonder if we'll ever see the MLWSWY performance, though.

How big a hit is Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You shaping up to be? It adds an additional 1,900 spins on this week's Idol chart, making it an easy Number One for the second week. For comparison (though, admittedly, it's not exactly apples to apples), take a look at Carrie Underwood's new single, I Told You So. Carrie reliably reaches the top of the charts in her format, and a new single from her is a pretty easy add for country programmers. It's the next biggest mover on our Idol chart (it's at 21 its fourth week on USA TODAY's country airplay chart), picking up 750 spins -- less than half the growth of Kelly's record. (Kelly, also in her fourth week on the charts, sits at 9 on both USA TODAY's Top 40 and Hot AC charts). In fact, My Life Would Suck Without You got more play than all three of Carrie's singles in the Idol Top 10 -- I Told You So; Carrie's previous single, Just a Dream; and the always popular Before He Cheats. Thanks for the update, Focus. Since the song thread is clogged with the trollish nonsense about MLWS not "deserving" to be #1, I thought I'd add this little bit of good news here in case some folks are avoiding that thread for now:

There are now 556 spins between MLWS and and LYL in #8. Yesterday there were 837 spins between them, so today's update is a gain for MLWS on the 8th spot of 281 spins in 24 hours. If MLWS can keep up this rate of gain, it should move into #8 on Top 40 by Friday.
