Will, I have no idea how you have this much patience. God only knows what would have happened to him had he started this absurd "discussion" on the Britney board. I love KC Fans!!!
His argument was absolutely immature and shows an ignorance for how the Hot 100 is compiled. It's almost as if I go to Taylor Swift's board, and tell them that she doesn't deserve the #1 album because I asked 20 of my friends (who, by the way, hate country music) and they all don't have a clue who she is. Absolutely ridiculous, and disrespectful to Industry Experts who do have a reason for creating only one chart that takes into account digital sales, streams, and airplay. The HOT 100 is not tyrannical by any means.
In the given case that anyone doesn't care for the HOT 100, Billboard also includes other charts that judge what practically any one person considers important. Perhaps picking up a copy of the Billboard Magazine would help some understand these charts, if at least to find a chart that contains the characteristics he or she believes the "hottest song in the country" should possess.
This song is going to be huge! I cannot wait for a live performance.
Anyhow, EXACTLY 4 WEEKS UNTIL WE HAVE THE WHOLE CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is anyone excited? Even just a little bit?

^ i understand ur feeling. ud better not take this so serious at the beginning.
I didn't even read all those comments. But I know that's the truth is always the truth. this song is not that great. (but not that worst) There may be someone who hates the way this song become#1 trying to bash it. And they may said something wrong and they may be stubborn. Just ignore them then. It's maybe just a little mistake. This is enough for this thread and (i think) enough for them to learn something.

wow is this argument really necessary...some songs have success, others dont...is there a reason..not necessarily...people have different opinions and have that right...theres nothing wrong with that...who knows if MLWS would of been a hit if it was released in 07 and who knows if Never Again, it could of been a huge hit on radio this year...we don't no...just enjoy the sucess thats on hand right now..and be happy!

Erm... I can't believe people think this song's number one charting success is a fluke. This is a REAL no. 1 hit. Here's some fake ones.
I don't consider "Crush" a top 5 hit- it's a top 20 hit in my eyes. Despite it's no. 2 peak, it only stayed in the top 10 for a week. I don't consider "Light On" a top 20 hit, despite it's no. 17 peak. It's a top 40 hit, because it only spent a week in the top 20.
MLWSWY is not like those. It's already in top 10 pop, and it stayed in the number one spot two weeks straight. It's #2 on itunes after 3 weeks. Plus, Kelly has already sold over 15 million albums worldwide. This is the real deal.
Of course, there's also the chance she'll end up like Usher and Mariah, but I have a feeling she won't. ;)

I'm surprised 'Circus' still hasn't moved past 'Love Story.' LS has a postive bullet again this morning, even though it's tiny. Anyway, the good news is that there are now 556 spins between MLWS and and LYL in #8. Yesterday there were 837 spins between them, a gain for MLWS on the 8th spot of 281 spins in 24 hours. If MLWS can keep up this rate of gain, it should move into #8 by Friday.

^ One slow update means nothing music4aw. Everything is going really, really well so far. We shouldn't worry unless it slows dramatically and remains low day after day.

HONESTLY this single has done exponentially more than it needed to do, so in my eyes if tomorrow it magically has '4 Minutes'esque a -2876 bullet I'll still be ecstatic

Just curious as I was not tracking radio when it was released. Does it hold any records for largest spin drop or something?

i think on its first week at #1, i could see the argument that this wasn't a popular song. but when it stayed there for a second week (and with the big jump in airplay), i think that pretty much closes the argument. this is a hit. deal with it! The second week I can digest, and I have said that before.

I think downloads are more manipulative than radio. case closed ;) I find it funny that you choose to ignore your own quote. As you deeply contradict yourself with your current opinion.

I find it funny that you choose to ignore your own quote. As you deeply contradict yourself with your current opinion. Can't you give it a rest? Sheesh! You've made your two or three points at least 50 times already, posting over several days about the same danged thing. If you don't think this song "deserved" to go #1 on the Hot 100 the first time, fine. If you think it got there not because it's a popular song, but because Kelly has a big fan base, fine. If you have a problem with the Hot 100 formula, fine. Everybody gets it. There's no reason for you to come on here every day, bait people and plow over the same tired ground. I really, really wish I could ping the mod over to see what you're doing, but even figuring out who the right mod is for this thread is a chore.

Love Plastic Love has come by, and said that while i'm negative, I'm being respectful, and that there's no harm in a good discussion. feel free to go look at what was said a couple pages back. I hate hypocrisy in all forms, the quote from Will is a prime example, and I feel compelled to share. I'm not afraid to be the only one to fight the fights I believe in fighting in, and be hated, because if I didn't it would make me appear weak. I have the ability to alter my opinion when other facts are presented to me, and I have for the past couple days when I heard what others had to say. Calling people trolls makes you look so much better, doesn't it?

When a song sells enough to go to #1 in its first week of release, that doesn't happen without promotion unless you have an over-zealous fanbase, and that is abundantly clear to me in the case of this song And I wasn't talking about your entire music collection, only this one song in particular, better luck next time you want to make me look like I don't know I'm talking about Oh, so now the latest hypothesis of yours is that "only this one song in particular" from our iTunes collections was purchased by me (and others) for the sole purpose of rocketing that song to #1. Perhaps people saw an advertisement on iTunes for a new song by an artist who has has been relatively out of the industry to that point and/or perhaps the brilliant marketing stategy of mini-leaks of information about the new single in the previous weeks got more than a few people curious, and/or perhaps, people simply liked the 30 second snippet. Naw- you must be correct as NONE of the other possibilities that I have listed would be true. If you told me that you believed that an "over-zealous fanbase" was responsible for getting Clay Aiken's 1-2 year old non-hit song 'On My Way Here' to #1 on AOL.COM this past week, I would concur with you since that song is nowhere on radio or the iTunes charts. But, I still would like an explanation for the unusually rapid ascent on the charts of 'Life Would Suck'- "overzealous fanbase", too ? You and I both know that an artist's "overzealous fans" likely purchased their artist's song on Day #1 of it's availability, so who purchased that song on day #2-14 to keep to #1 on iTunes ? Who continues to purchase the song in week 3 to keep it at #2, only second to Eminem who has released his first single in five years ? The holes in your "logic" are becoming increasing and glaringly larger...... I would like to make a recommendation for you: perhaps, your brilliant mindreading "skills" would better be utilized by the sales and marketing departments of say a record label, such as RCA, since you clearly know more about me than I do myself when it comes to my rationale for purchasing music, lol. Most likely, and "the this song in particular" clause was always included, you chose to misinterpret it. And I'm sure that there have been other songs people who downloaded this song downloaded only to get it to #1. And for probably the sixth time, I only contest the first week at #1 as making this song the most popular song in the US, which it inherently was not. You are absolutely right about Aiken (I mean seriously, that's the epitome of crazy fanbase). The Eminem situation is no different from the first week sales of MLWSWY. I've never said I was a mind reader of alluded to it, I'm making generalizations, that are mostly correct, but not entirely, not everyone who bought MLWSWY the first week was a rabid fan, but at least 60% were.

God only knows what would have happened to him had he started this absurd "discussion" on the Britney board. most fans will buy both versions and that will help its overall sales and chart position. *sniff* Do you smell that? That smells a hell of a lot like chart manipulation ARE YOU BLIND? It's not even released as a single yet. It was only announced. The downloads are only happening due to the extensive talk about it's meaning and whatnot. Fox News even had a 10 minute segment about whether it would be allowed on radio as it's original version. And of course there is no video, as I just said, because it is not a released single, ONLY ANNOUNCED. Once it is released to radio in early March, as well as the video release, by then the song will be Top 40 on radio with a decent bullet, and once the video is released it will EXPLODE. The odds are very much in her favor, in all ways. If radio plays the edited version, it will only make that person go and purchase the explicit version. And for parents who like the song and doesn't mind their child listening, they will buy the clean version for them, giving it twice the downloads. Not to mention the song's ability to make you latch on, meaning good radio play. I honestly just believe you do not like Britney, so you're here coming up with the most ridiculous statements possible. Please leave, and come back in a month when this is taking off....with some sense too. You think this song is going to #1, you can think whatever you want, as implied by your name, I can see wherein your devotion/blind faith lies. But I know that it won't i am completely aware that the media is having a field day with discussing the explcitness of this song, and has got some buzz downloads i don't care who the hell you are, the odds of a third single going to #1 are slim to none, i can think of exceptions, recently "Glamorous" by Fergie, but it had urban radio behind it, IUSA or much any Britney for that matter having the same urban airplay is not going to happen. Typically, you download either the clean or explicit version, not both so your double the downloads theory is tripe. And if you don't think I like Britney, you prove even more to me that your probably a 15-16 year old who is obsessed with Britney and mistake critical discussion with dislike, which is your problem and not mine. I am a casual Britney fan, and not obsessed as you clearly are. Ooh, too late
