Maxwell is a NEW ARTIST? Seriously? Maxwell has been out since 1996, had multiple Grammy nominations and a top 10 hit ("Fortunate"). There's nothing new about him.

I hope Polly Scattergood can rack up a nomination for Best New Artist.
She's basically unknown since her album came out a few months ago but the Grammys are good at picking up artists in the shadows.
If not, then "Other Too Endless" should be nominated for something.
Absolutely stunning voice.

Circus won't win album of the year, and neither will The Fame. I also would be SHOCKED if either would be nominated. As I would BEP. They're too novelty for the grammys. I wouldn't rule out The Fame that quickly.

Fearless does not deserve an album of the year nomination, quality-wise at least.
I'm sure there are at least 5 better albums than Fearless which will get the nominations for AOTY.

Maxwell Could be in for some major Grammy love.
Personally love the album.
His metacritic average after 5 reviews is 84/100 and if reports are correct he expected to sell between 225,000-300,000 first week.
could be an AOTY Nom. will def win R&B album.

I think Maxwell and Chrisette Michele could dominate the R&B categories.

^ Sorry for my ignorance about Maxwell being a new artist. I had never heard of him I guess. But I love what I hear of him now! lol His voice is incredible.
Does anyone think that The Fray's song "You Found Me" will get any Grammy love for Record or song of the year? It gets a TON of airplay.
My picks for Songs in contention for Record or Song of the year so far:
Record of the Year Contenders so Far:
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas Poker Face- Lady Gaga You Found Me- The Fray Heartless- Kanye West My Life Would Suck Without You- Kelly Clarkson Sober- Pink Zero- The Yeah Yeahs Dead and Gone- Justin Timberlake and T.I. Hot and Cold- Katy Perry Right Round- Flo Rider Live Your Life- Rihanna and TI
Song of the Year so far:
1. Halo- Beyonce 2. You Found Me- The Fray 3. Just a Dream- Artist, Carrie Underwood, Songwriter, Hillary Lindsey 4. Heartless- Kanye West 5. Come on Get Higher- Matt Nathanson

Yeah, Diane will not be getting a spot. I think Kid Cudi will for sure. Keri Hilson also stands a great chance.

I think Maxwell and Chrisette Michele could dominate the R&B categories. I agree with this. Despite me not really caring for Maxwell, he has a huge impact on people. He will do well at the very least in nominations.

Diane Birch's album and singles were produced by Grammy-award winners Steve Greenberg and Betty Wright which is why I gave her three out of the four Big Four. She is up-and-coming and also has that retro vibe, which Grammy Voters love.
As for "Knock You Down", its the collaboration of the summer. There is always some sort of collabortation nominated in the Big Four. Keri Hilson is teamed up with Grammy winners Kanye West & Ne-Yo, so obviously you can expect some sort of nomination for this song and Keri. As for it being nominated for SOTY, my explanition is there is always that one song that shouldnt really be nominated but it is.
Ill redo the list in time, but for right now, its staying put. I know im gonna change Regina Spektor, Diane Birch, and maybe some SOTY.

how do you guys rate david guetta's chances to get an dance album nod? he's got kelly rowland, akon, estelle etc. lined up and the snippets that are around on the internet sound pretty nice. with "when love takes over" backing him up, i can see him up there.
and i agree with you on the britney bit: nominations yes, but a win? no. "poker face" will kill her in the dance department while pretty much everyone else in the pop department.
i'm with on hilson as a new artist. must feel weird for her though as she's been around for so long behind the scenes.
what do you make of "battlefield"'s chances?

Are we expecting anything for Single Ladies or If I Were A Boy? Both were huge worldwide successes, and we all know Bey is a Grammy darling...

I think Beyonce will definetly be nominated for a few awards anyway. She did put out a pretty decent album.
Isn't it funny how Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Mary J Blige will all be eligible for their albums this year? Talk about Battle of the divas! lol

Mary isn't coming out until November. Also, SL and IIWAB isn't eligible as they were submitted last year.
