This could be their biggest rock hit ever. It's got radio a buzzing.

This could be their biggest rock hit ever. It's got radio a buzzing. So it could spend 5+ weeks on top of the BB Mainstream Rock chart (1 more than "Lifeline"), or 3+ weeks on top of the BB Alternative chart (1 more than "Last Resort")? It could... but then again, I also could also streak naked across the field at the Cubs game tomorrow.

It could... but then again, I also could also streak naked across the field at the Cubs game tomorrow. Well somebody needs to bring streaking back. Might as well be you... Last week, my local station reran the '70s Show episode where Eric, wearing a Richard Nixon mask, streaked in front of his dad and President Ford. The other three guys had chickened out.

surprised this isnt doing better on Active, or Alternative for that matter, could their single success be on the start of a decline now too?

I can think of other examples too, like Staind, who just did well with Believe because it fed off of Right Here and the rest of last album, or how about NIN when they came out with Survivalism in 07, which only hit #1 because of 3 massive hits the previous album, since then they've yet to even get back to the top 5, and Discipline didnt even last long enough to go recurrent. It happens to most bands at some point, its just something to wonder with Papa Roach, who at the very least and fading on the Alternative format

surprised this isnt doing better on Active, or Alternative for that matter, could their single success be on the start of a decline now too? There's only been one album era where Papa Roach truly claimed more than one big hit, and that was the "Getting Away With Murder" era. Beyond that, they've really only collected one big hit each album. "...To Be Loved" may have went Top Ten the previous era, but it disappeared quickly and I consider "Forever" the only true hit that era. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Broken Home" was also a big hit from Infest if I recall and I know "Time Is Running Out" did really well last era.

Neither is "A Looking In View," but look at what it's doing. His point was that anything they released would do well because people were starved for new Papa Roach. Which obviously wasn't the case. Single or not, the song had promo and a video to boot but still didn't do so well.

True, but you're also comparing Papa Roach to Alice In Chains. That's like comparing a Shih Tzu to a pit bull.
I get your point, you just chose a lopsided analogy though.

Disturbed works...and "Perfect Insanity" didn't do that well.
I think the success of "A Looking In View" without being a real single can be attributed to 10 years since we've heard ANYTHING new from them, and 14 years since their last album.

I think the reason why Hollywood Whore didn't do well was partly because the word "whore" has to be censored at radio. It's not good for a song when part of the title has to be censored. There are of course exceptions. But both "Armagoddamnmotherfuckingeddon" and "Starfuckers" were pretty big flops.
