There'll only be two more singles released from the album?
She mentions my name in the interlude... she's actually referring to me. :) I go to a diner every Wednesday. But I don't know who she was talking to on the phone cuz it wasn't me. :(
I'll probably make an edit without the interlude because although it's cool, it's not something I'd want to hear over again. It's one of those first-time-is-good things. Both radio edits have the phone call in them.

Maybe they could replace the phone conversation with Mos Def doing a light rap instead.

I really love this song, it's great...but yea the phone call is kinda annoying
It's like watching a baseball game at times, you can change the channel on the radio, see what else is on, and come back to find that you have missed nothing important
But for the most part, her vocals are amazing and it is a great song, it is a shoo-in for Best Female Vocal R&B Performance at next year's Grammys
The other part that just slightly takes away from the song for me is that months ago, for quite some time, it was leaked as a new song off her upcoming album, and I really have no interest in leaked songs because I just assume that they wont be the 1st single anyways, and I dont even bother listening. But this time it did happen to be the 1st single, so a little part of me still sees it as that insignificant leaked track, even though it is not.

When it was leaked, I said that it was the first single. People just chose not to believe me because they didn't think it was mainstream enough.

I wasn't referring to you specifically, just on other message boards people had posted the link to the song and I didn't really buy that it was the 1st single

If any artist wins as many Grammys as Alicia did, they don't care about being mainstream. A plain pop album won't win that many Grammys. The piano isn't "mainstream." It was Number 2 on 106 and Park today behind Jay-Z. Before today, I saw Alicia at 4, 5, and 6.

The fan site said, "Here's the first single. It's the promo cut." ...and everyone was like "This better not be the first single" and chose not to believe it.

I heard a reggae remix on Hot 97. It was surprisingly very good! It worked well as a reggae song... it has a really island feel.

I'm already sick of this song. It's OK but nothing special. I'd like it more if the phone conversation could be deleted.

THE PHONE CONVERSATION IS CHRONOLOGICALLY FLAWED!
How in the world can they arrange to meet on a Thursday, if they see each other every Wednesday at the diner? That means they're gonna see each other before the actual date the Wednesday prior, which would kinda ruin the "excitement" of the date itself.
That's corny.
Me loves the song, though.

It has a giant audience lead but its Urban spins lead isn't as big as "U Got It Bad" had. "U Got It Bad" had big leads on CHR-Rhythmic, Urban, and PeopleBase. Being from New York City and having WWPR as your second leader helps. It has great audience per spin despite having 155 combined spins on its sixth and seventh leaders which register zero audience on Mediabase, and one of them is Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood which would normally have good audience per spin. Its 20 leaders have six stations in Top 10 markets, ten in Top 30 markets, and fourteen in Top 50 markets.

I don't know if it's been addressed in this topic (Heck, I think this is the first time I've visited this forum ), but I don't really like the video for this song. At least the beginning. I hate how they have to present it like it's some sort of grandiose movie with those title cards: "j records presents" "alicia keys in" "you don't know my name" Or something like that, I don't exactly remember. I'm sorry but I find that incredibly pretentious and arrogant. I think I watched the rest of the video once, and I thought it wasn't anything special, maybe a little cheesy, I don't quite remember. Oh yeah, the song. The song is OK. Maybe a little dull, though. It's certainly not as good as "Fallin'" In fairness, I guess I haven't heard it enough.

No one really cares about PeopleBase. I just said it because it fit in. I wouldn't have said PeopleBase by itself.

I don't really like the second one since it's too similar to the original. I like the one with Freeway. I like how the music gradually goes from the hip-hop beat to the original music when it gets to the chorus.
