Great news about AG....when I randomly listen to the radio, which isn't often, I hear AG played..... Yes she has but INOWL would be a perfect song for Idol Gives Back...something in a montage of footage either w/ Kelly shown doing charity work, like Carrie did, or just the song itself....I really think it would have a VERY powerful impact when used in that format. Thanks for the boxscore for that show...I would like to see more.....I like to see the size venues she does in other places because for MD and now AIEW tours here in Chicago, they have been at smaller venues...which is cool, I love that intimate feel....I think the venues here, Chicago Theatre, and Rosemont Theatre seats about 3/4K....I could TOTALLY be off with that...if someone knows different, I would love to be corrected!

The smaller venues definitely make a more intimate show, and Kelly has said she likes that. But it's still a scandal, given how well-known Kelly and her music are and what a great live performance she puts on, that she's not singing to 10-15,000 people every night. There's a lotta people out there missing a great show. And they don't have the excuse that she's some obscure boutique act nobody has heard of. She's one of the most famous people in music, and specifically is famous for having a great voice in live performances.
Oh, well. Their loss.

Their loss. i definitely agree that it is their loss, but i think she's still trying to make up ground for my december being such a major disappointment (i loved it, just going by the facts). she needs a string of majorly successful singles like breakaway had to cement her arena status, and it hasn't really happened with AIEW. let's hope the already gone "bubble" that everyone is referring to is about to pop and it'll be a major success for her.

^^ This is why Kelly needs to release more singles from this album. There are definitely more radio hits there. Honestly, if I was Kelly's management, I'd be offering to eat a good deal of RCA's promotional cost just to keep pumping more singles out, for the long-term benefit of keeping her on the air. But I'm not sure Kelly would think in those terms; while she clearly cares about her songs charting well and people buying her album, it seems like as long as she's got a few thousand people to sing to, she's happy.

I think Kelly should release two more singles from this album. I think 'IICHY' and 'DLMSY' would be good choices. I think they would really help spike album sales.
Hopefully AIEW will get good holiday sales, with AG doing really well. I would expect AG to peak around mid-November or so.

Not only is this a great performance of "Impossible" from Knoxville, but it also has the "kick them in the balls" comment..lol.

IICHY then IWY and I'd be happy. I've always had a feeling about IICHY as a black horse, and IWY could be the next "I'm Yours".
I could see them both being radio hits over multiple formats. I'd be scared about DLMSY following IDNHU's path simply 'cause it's too "Breakaway".
Plus the live factor. Both go great live, DLMSY, well everyone knows she dropped it and for what reasons.

I don't think KC will ever sell out an arena. Even after BA, she wasn't able to.
Part of it is the fact that she's not trying to be the biggest act on the planet, at all. She actually seems to shy away from the title, even with all the potential there. Because of that, her management is not pushing her the way The Firm once did. The most successful acts in music have a clear goal of becoming Iconic--MJ did, Mariah did, and currently Beyonce does. "Keep making music and singing", Kelly's goal, is not a clear goal that would help her sell out arenas, while "Becoming a Legend" is...
Her eclectic love for music also contributes to her not being an album seller. Album after album, she's been aimed at different audiences. While she has a hard core fanbase, it is nowhere big enough to sell out arenas (not like U2, Brit, or Madonna). Her music is all over the place.
Then there's the image issue that I do not need to elaborate on in addition her mostly simple life that makes her pretty uninteresting to follow.
While I think she has a phenomenal voice (IMO, the best vocal discovery of the decade), I don't think she'll ever be selling out arenas. She doesn't want to.
This is why Album sales (for people who get frustrated) or Tour sales (for people who get frustrated) is irrelevant. Unless the artist is doing everything she can to reach her full potential, I don't see why anyone even gets slightly frustrated.

I know she likes playing the small crowds and whatever, but her brand of pop rock along with her roof shattering vocals would be perfect in that environment. I reckon she should have tried one in the Summer of 06 (instead of The Addicted Tour) and got a big artist to support. Then she'd have developed that huge live audience who might have come back the next time round. I agree, it's too late now.

I'd love if she could sell out arenas, but more than that I care about what SHE WANTS. She just wants to have a long career playing the music she loves. She was on top of the world once and she doesn't want to go back there. She made it clear several times that she doesn't want to be the biggest star on the planet, she just wants to be able to do what she loves, and I totally respect that. Everyone wants to accomplish something different in life, and that's her goal. I cannot express how happy I am that she's here for the right reasons, just for the love of music and performing and not just to be popular, selling crazy amounts of albums, receiving tons of awards or becoming a legend.

Just to be clear, I'm not criticizing Kelly. She's successful and she's happy and she's doing things her way for the right reasons. It's more a sad comment on the business that she isn't an even bigger success and selling out bigger venues just as she is. Like I said, if more people aren't going to her shows, that's their loss.

I think the Addicted Tour easily culd have been in arena's with Kelly as the headliner. I went to her show at Jones Beach, which Im not sure of the exact number of seats, but I would wager it's close to 10,000, maybe 8, and she sold the place out. TWO NIGHTS. IN A ROW. I think she easily could have done a MSG performance for the enitre tri-state area, instead of a Jones Beach 2 night stay and PNC bank arts center (in New Jersey). But Kelly has been VERY vocal about not having as a goal selling out arena's. In fact, she probably wouldn't want to. I think she likes the intimate feel, and I LOVE it as well, especially when that means she can point at me, make eye contact, etc.

I remember (please correct me if I'm wrong) reading about a show during the Addicted tour with 20,000 people or more. Ironically, that tour brought us "Irvine", she was so deppresed, THAT'S why I'm happy if what's she's doing now makes her happy. During that tour she had a little stage in the middle of the audience, far from the stage, where she did the acoustic set. She always wanted to have that contact with the audience, to be close to them, and sometimes she even recognizes people, she's always so chatty and tells random stories, makes fun of herself, and she would never be able to do that in an arena. Having said that, here's a great video montage of her show in Pikeville, Ky, nice audio and video quality, and it shows many songs from the concert.

I remember my boss telling us how excited he was to be taking his daughter to the Addicted Tour. When he came back, he raved about Kelly. She had 3 huge tours in a row, right?

OK so I think we now have objective proof that Kelly could have sold out stadiums. 40,000 tickets sold in the tri state area of NYC alone, how many seats does MSG have? Definitely not 40,000. Kelly is absolutely capable of being a superstar, but she clearly doesn't want to be. I think her reaction to the mega "success" of the Addicted tour (Irvine) should indicate that maybe it is good that she at least knows that a superstar life is not for her. Glad she is healthy enough to be able to realize that, as so many extremely talented people have had their lives ruined by superstardom.

I am also of the opinion that the singles should go IICHY and then close out with IWY. It would be perfect.
