That '7 Nation Army' performance was something else... especially if you were there. :o Woah, and that was the second night of a back to back concert and the end of the first leg of this tour with her voice sounding so strong. She is off for 10 days now, so I can't wait for the rest of her tour videos. She has sounded amazing throughout this entire AIEW tour. :o

I really do wish "Never Again" was played more, it's not a terrible single at all, one of her best, imo.

Live Review: Kelly Clarkson in PhoenixBy Christina Fuoco-Karasinski Kelly Clarkson Saturday (11/7) show at the Arizona State Fair's Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix was all about that voice. The first "American Idol" winner has enough hits to pack a two-hour show, but peppered in a worthwhile handful of covers, referencing the artists who sometimes influence her music. "These are two of my favorite songs--two really great songs that I wish I could have sung on one of my records or wrote them," she said before mashing up Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" with Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," much to the excitement of the fans. The crowd cheered when she sarcastically sang Morissette's line "I would be good even if I gained 10 pounds," an obvious nod to those who criticize Clarkson's weight. More of Clarkson's favorite songs were featured throughout the set, such as "Lies" by The Black Keys, a two-man duo comprising singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. Her warm, sultry take on the song was a favorite among the young pop fans, most of whom probably had never heard of The Black Keys. "I love bluesy music," Clarkson said. "Whenever I get to pick covers, I always pick the bluesy ones. Dan Auerbach is so ridiculous. It's much better when you hear it from him." On the "bluesy" tip, she continued with Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight," for which she was accompanied by two guitarists and a trumpet player. She stripped most of the country out of the song and replaced it with her powerhouse raw, blues-influenced vocals. Clarkson, accompanied by a robust band that included a horn section, DJ and back-up singers, kicked off the "All I Ever Wanted Tour" with, appropriately enough, "All I Ever Wanted." She quickly slammed into "Miss Independent" as an array of orange lights danced to the music overhead. The band played a few bars of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" just as Clarkson went into the second verse. Clarkson strolled across the stage, exuding less energy than shows past. But, admittedly, she became more animated as the show wore on. "I Do Not Hook Up" was more aggressive than the recorded version, thanks to her crack band, which really made the show. "Are you ready?" Clarkson yelled before inviting the audience to sing along with the chorus. The 90-minute concert was a virtual sing-along, with the packed house serenading Clarkson with her own music--and the singer encouraged it. "If the person standing next to you isn't singing," she said in introducing "Breakaway," "you have my permission to smack them. ... I'm just kidding." She continued with the techno-influenced "If I Can't Have You" from the album "All I Ever Wanted," which she mashed with The Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams." Fans rabidly responded every time she held a long note or hit an overtly high note, like in "Never Again." Clarkson simplified some of her hits, cutting out the production in "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and performing it acoustically, for example, and silencing her voice during the chorus as the audience sang it. But her commanding voice was the centerpiece of the concert. Couples swayed to "Because of You," a song she said she wrote as a "kid," and fans jumped up and down when she nailed the high notes. "Walk Away" and "Since U Been Gone" also got a raucous response from the crowd. But perhaps the most emotional part of the evening was her take on her latest single, "Already Gone." With help from a beautiful backing band, she showed fans exactly why she won "American Idol." www.livedaily.com/news/20646.html

ditto! That songs is one of my very favorite from Kelly live. Never Again is a great rock song, and a great concert song. It was never a pop song. I don't know if it was Kelly, RCA or both who wanted it as the lead single, but it was a bad decision because the pop songs off that album never got released as singles in the US.

I love NA live when Kelly is so into it and pissed off but im not a big fan of the studio version. The live version of 'Never Again' makes the studio version look like bubblegum pop. Compare and contrast: The bridge is so powerful especially the final 'NEVERRRRRRRRR' at the end of the bridge (from 2:29 - 3:03) :o: For comparsion, studio version:

This is very random...but does anyone know if Kelly's ever sang the "Rick Dees and the Weekly Top 40" phrase? I almost feel like everyone but Kelly has done it.

Never Again kicks all kinds of ass in my opinion. I also think Hook Up kicks ass as well, musically anyway....unfortunately in today's society the message of that song isn't a popular one..sad really. Yeah, I wonder who did pick it as the first single....RCA to insure that MD would fail.....or Kelly as a big FU to RCA.....interesting.....funny thing is though, it may not get radio play, but last time I checked it was in the ballpark of 900K downloads I believe....that wasn't that far down the line from her "big" hits of Breakaway...... Wasn't One Minute going to be the first single at one point? I don't know why I think that cause I can't even think of where I would have seen that. Focus....glad you had an amazing time!!!!!

I think a lot of us thought "One Minute" was going to be the first single because she performed it at a Nascar event months before the album came out. Thankfully that song never saw the light of day aside from that performance (which was even more of a mess than the studio version).

I loved her whole Nascar involvment, the fact that she did that for charity and didn't get paid for any of it, but yeah, that performance was not one of her better ones, I recall though that she said that song is really difficult to sing live, and I am sure it was the first performance of that song.

Thankfully that song never saw the light of day aside from that performance (which was even more of a mess than the studio version). I always wondered if that performance stopped it from being the lead single, which I think it should have been. She just totally flubbed that performance, and it seemed every fan recoiled in horror at the song because she just hadn't worked out how to do it live yet (she did it great at the concerts for MD). I wondered if that bad reaction turned them to NA, because people weren't just saying it was a bad performance, but a bad song. I still think it should have been the first single--it was something different and upbeat, even. I remember when NA was stalling, people were attributing it to be being too much of everything they heard on Breakaway, though not as strong. I wonder if OM had kicked off the era with a different, cool sound, how things would have gone.

I think Australia is a fairly good indicator of how things will do here and they released OM there and it shot up the charts really quick and then fell really hard. Someone please feel free to add specifics to that description. I think releasing Sober first would have been an unconventional and powerful start to the era. Either that or, and I realize I am in the major minority here, Can I Have a Kiss. Best hook of the album. How I Feel for #3.

Barf @ CIHAK. I can't stand anything about that song... Lyrics, vocals, melody. Yuck.
I'm not really sure what the second single should have been. Or the first for that matter, considering the project was virtually doomed from the get the get go. I suppose if I had to pick -- "Never Again" would be good first single, but I would have sent out HIF immediately after. Followed by DWYT (with a new video, because that Roman White sh** was not cutting it for me after the amazing videos from the BA era). I don't think any of the ballads would have done anything. None of them were particularly radio friendly at all actually.

I am probably the only person on earth who thinks this, but I think Hole would have been a great lead single. Yeah it's too hard, too rocky, but that's why I like it. She KILLED it live, too, on the MD tour. Would have beena major risk, but it's not like it could have performed THAT much differently than NA even in the worst case scenario.

Hole at least would have lived up to the controversy more than NA. When all the reports of how dark and hard the album was before it came out, people must have only heard Hole. It would have been a bold statement. A good one? Who knows.

Dunno if anyone here has a Twitter, but Leno is asking his viewers, "Who do YOU want to see as a guest on The Jay Leno Show?" I'd love to see Kelly do an interview, maybe drive Leno's Ford Fusion race track. Kelly's promo appearances are always so much better when she gets to talk and do fun stuff besides just singing.

I HATE "Never Again"- it almost ruined her career- people stayed away from her album in droves because of that song.

:( I loved Never Again! It was "harder" than her breakaway stuff, but I didn't think it was not radio friendly!
Any news on single #4? I want DLMSY, but I know everyone else want's IICHU.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but I was the one wondering how this album was.
Well I finallly bought it, the Deluxe Edition, and have listened to it countless times the past few days. I LOVE this album and will definitely be looking into her previous two.
Aside from her first two singles, which I don't care for at all, this album is perfection. The production is amazing. She sings like there's no tomorrow. I just love this album.
My favorites have to be: Already Gone of course, this is why I bought the album. All I Ever Wanted is my next favorite. It's a fun song to sing along to and I like how the verses run into the chorus, different. I Want You is a fun, different sounding song. I like the lyrics and sound of Impossible. Long Shot, Ready, and Don't Let Me Stop You are my other favorites.
And it was so worth the 3 extra dollars for the 2 bonus songs. They are 2 of my favorites on the entire album.
I hope there's a next single from this album and I REALLY hope it's "All I Ever Wanted".
Can someone compare this album to her previous two for me please? Thanks!

If you like the sound of All I ever wanted, maybe you should take a listen to Breakaway (which is close to the production of AIEW).
I'm sure you've heard almost all singles off Breakaway (how could you not? they were radio giants). Besides those 5, there are plenty of good songs on that album
