I didn't have a strong feeling about this the first time I listened to it, but the second time I really loved it.

My local station just played the world premiere. It sounded awesome! =)
I like the cow bell (?) in it hehe

Yeah, the first time I listened to this I was thinking that it was really good, but not particularly catchy. But by the time it ended I'd completely changed my mind. I love it. Much better than "Dani California".

Meh. I was expecting a more upbeat track. This sounds kinda dated. But I do like the addition of the cowbell :) .

I usually commend Sirius for being first on a lot of radio hits. Now I'm just ready to hear it. I bet they get it aired within 24 hours. Cowbell, huh?

Not feeling it yet.
Don't think it is going to be that popular. It'll probably go no.1 regardless.

I'm actually not really digging this. It's not bad, but it's not strong either.

I like the verses. Love the mini guitar solo. The chorus felt kinda empty. Kudos to Klinghoffer on his Fruciante impersonation. And yeah, go cowbell. but it's not strong either.

I think this is one that's going to take me a bit to get used to. Nothing really hooked me in like the new Blink-182 single did. I'm sure I'll hear it plenty more in the coming weeks.

Doesn't sound as memorable as other songs, but still listenable.

I think the key word for the new album is going to be FRESH. We'll hear something different, upbeat, and something that will make us smile. Not just the overall mean of the last 3 homogeneous records.

This is pleasant but I doubt I would notice it if it came from some unknown band. It has my attention because of who it is rather than what it is.

I didn't have a strong feeling about this the first time I listened to it, but the second time I really loved it. Same here. What drew me in was the Rolling Stones-disco groove. This is probably one of those songs that people won't get into until they hear it on the radio. I don't think it will be a huge hit for them, but it's solid. Nothing really hooked me in like the new Blink-182 single did. I actually thought that one was much worse.

Assuming this does reach the top, how will this single match up against their previous 11 Alternative #1s? Other than Walk, there really doesn't seem like an urgent chart topper out there. It may get 10+ weeks.
Scar Tissue (16w) By The Way (14w) Dani California (14w) Otherside (13w) Snow (5w) Soul To Squeeze (5w) Tell Me Baby (4w) My Friends (4w) Can't Stop (3w) Give It Away (2w) Californication (1w)

"Walk", "Up All Night", & "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" seem to be it's only competitors in my eyes.

Officially from Nielsen +262 on Alternative, currently at #32. Depending on how Sunday finishes, the early airplay may cost this song a top 20 debut.

OMG...Despite the absolutely ridiculous title, this is the first Red Hot Chili Peppers song in 22 years that I legitimately like! :o :o :o :o :o

OMG...Despite the absolutely ridiculous title, this is the first Red Hot Chili Peppers song in 22 years that I legitimately like! :o :o :o :o :o If you've mentioned the last one before, I can't remember what it was. Recalling my first listens to their lead singles over the years, I liked it more than my first impression of "Dani California," about the same as "By the Way," but less than "Scar Tissue" or "Warped." It's likely that's the way my opinion will solidify, too. I liked how the outro rolled along and I was expecting a fade, but then it abruptly stopped on an upbeat. That was cool.

Timing isn't on this song's side. Wish the record label and radio would've held off until one more day. Oh well.

Yes it does. This will officially debut at #35 on alt, whereas if it debuted on Tuesday, it would've probably debuted in the Top 5. Oh well, it'd be pretty cool if this reaches #1 next week.

I don't get your logic. Tuesday's spins are already included.

I don't think debuts are nearly as important as chart peaks and sales. I guarantee record labels share that sentiment. We don't sit here wondering about this with follow-up singles. I'm more interested in where this could go on the Hot 100.

Most singles start airplay on Mondays. But this Tuesday would've been 8 days after it started getting airplay on July 11. You were inferring there was one day in between that made a difference. That's why I was confused.
