OMG...Despite the absolutely ridiculous title, this is the first Red Hot Chili Peppers song in 22 years that I legitimately like! :o :o :o :o :o If you've mentioned the last one before, I can't remember what it was. I liked how the outro rolled along and I was expecting a fade, but then it abruptly stopped on an upbeat. That was cool. "Knock Me Down." I agree about the outro too (esp. sounds cool with the cowbell leading up to it)

I like this a lot. And I'm quite a big RHCP fan. The bar is raised high on this so I can understand the disappointment in a lot of fans.

I really like this but it isn't as instant as any of the singles from "Stadium Arcadium".

I like this a lot. And I'm quite a big RHCP fan. The bar is raised high on this so I can understand the disappointment in a lot of fans. I raised my bar kind of low because "Dani California" was HUGE let down for me. It's weird because even though I like this better than that song, it excites me even less. It's just a plain song that's good but not great and could have come out by ANYONE and no one would blink an eye at it.

#8 on Alternative Real Time for the week so far. Based on today's airplay, it's #3.

It's interesting and I can sense it growing on me. That said, I don't expect near the longevity of this one as the lead singles from the previous three albums.
I like that they made a lead single that didn't seem so tailor-made for the radio. Not a favorite of mine yet, but I can see it getting better with me.

I agree on the urgency of the song. But in a weak summer of big hits, this may have longer legs than if released in a busier singles market.

#17 on Nielsen, but Walk is the only single above it with a bullet. Smooth sailing ahead for Maggie.

#8 this morning. Still going to be tough for this to make the 24 to 1 jump in week 2.

I think "Walk" should be able to get in at least a week at #1. This probably won't reach #1 until next week.

Walk has turned into a Limp. But I like its chances of #1 by the cutoff.

I sure hope so. "Walk" demolishes this in every way possible. This is the worst RHCP lead single by a clear distance.

Not for me at least. I'll take this over Dani California, Fortune Faded, and Knock Me Down any day.

Nah. I didn't like "Rope" either, though, so hopefully RHCP unleash a kick-ass second single like Foo Fighters have done with "Walk."

Not for me at least. I'll take this over Dani California, Fortune Faded, and Knock Me Down any day. This is better than any of those but doesn't come close to "Scar Tissue, "Otherside," "Californication," "By the Way,' "Zephyr Song," "Can't Stop," "Tell Me Baby," or "Snow." Last time around the second and third singles were way better than the lead single, so hopefully that will be the case here too. However the lukewarm lead single this time makes me worry that the album won't be a great one from start to end like Californication and By the Way which both started out strong single-wise.

I'm just excited that we'll be getting something fresh and exciting from the band, which wasn't the case for Californication II and the incredibly bloated double disc Californication III.

Ya know I will take Californication I, II, and III over anything on One Hot Minute. If it's weren't for Frusciante, you all would've never even have heard of these guys. I thought Dani California was pretty frickin awesome. I really love this one, but I can't compare it to DC. They're just different creatures.
Artie, you seem quite skeptical about a band you created a thread for about a year in advance.

As did I. I think it's the one Chili Peppers album besides "Californiacation" that I could listen all the way through without skipping songs. Don't get me wrong. I love RHCP, but I've always found it a bit difficult to enjoy everything on most of their releases.

Minute may be my favorite overall record. Although the last 3 clones have produced some of the best radio singles the band will ever create. The poor lack of editing has been a major flaw of these past Peppers albums.

And even more amazing, a 23 to 1 jump on Billboard's Rock Songs.

Let me add that I like the fact that Anthony worked the phrase "cock-blocking" into a Chili Peppers song.

Kiedis has always had a sneaky way with words in my opinion.
