^ I think she looked her worst during the Charmbracelet era. I hate it when people tell me she looks fat in TAOM dvd cuz she is NOT. It really pisses me off. Only because people are used to anorexic looking females.

Part of the reason she's able to drop weight so quickly when she wants to is that she's in relatively good shape and hasn't had any children. If she were to have a child, I'm not sure she'd be able to drop the weight unless she worked really hard, and we know Mariah isn't the biggest fan of workouts. On another note, I'm not even sure she wants children. I think she and Nick would make great parents. I hope she doesn't look back ten years from now and wish she'd had a child when she could've. That would be depressing. |

Mariah readies next single--"Candy Bling," from her upcoming album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
The song comes after the smash hit first single "Obsessed," which was allegedly about Eminem (although as predicted, she and husband Nick Cannon have denied this on several occasions). While "Obsessed" is hovering just outside the top 10 in Billboard's Hot 100, all indicators are up and Mariah fans around the world is still hoping the song becomes her 19th #1 single.
Back to "Candy Bling," the song is a slow-jam which talks about loving someone, losing him/her, and getting back on again (does she talk about anything else?). The song features a rather strong vocal performance with a nice ending (read: ultra high-whistle notes in the end).
If indeed "Obsessed" manages to claim the top spot, fans can expect a 20th #1 song from Mimi, which will allow her to match The Beatle's all time high record.

That's surprising. "Candy Bling" is a critical favorite, but many of them have said that it isn't single material. She's talked about "H.A.T.E.U." and its re-recorded remix so much; I was sure it was going to be the second single.

I think she probably said to the label, "OK, I'll do one more album, but after that, I'm taking a break to have a family." So when all the promo is done for this album, I think it's entirely possible that she's not going to release an album for a few years after this one. I'd expect Island to release a GH album or compilation of some sort, with a couple new songs on it, to cash in during that time. This is all purely speculation, but given that she's getting old and can't have kids for much longer, she might be thinking along these same lines. |

To be honest, it would be a wise decision. I want her to be happy and she deserves the break. But I think the time away from music will help her re-focus on her image and voice. Plus, it will provide new inspiration for her songwriting. |

I also think there will be a break after Memoirs. At least 3 years, but I'm OK with it. She's given us a lot with these two albums so close to each other. She deserves having a family if she wants to ;)

I also think it will help restore her image and improve her level of respect in the industry. With her M.I.A, people will definitely notice she is gone and will miss her music. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if her catalog sales shoot up too. Anyways, this hiatus is still miles away! |

Just based off of reviews (which one must take with a grain of salt) I think Mariah's cover of IWTKWLI would be a great choice for the 2nd single. Time shall tell though. It's the one song I am the most interested in hearing.
As for Mariah having a baby- I would not categorize her as someone who is so vain that they would refuse to have a baby in fear of losing their shape. Of course when one gets older and has had no kids the decision is a tough one because that person is so used to having the freedom to do whatever they want without the worry of a child(s) well being. Meh. I'm sure Mariah & Nick have talked about having a child be it one from Mariah or a child who is adopted.

Well....I wouldn't doubt that being a big reason for her not wanting a baby. We know she's very into her looks and has self esteem issues as it is.....I really don't think she'd take gaining 50+ pounds very well at all. She has issues with her weight as it is and that's without being pregnant. |

I would. Mariah has self esteem issues no doubt which is understandable when you have had people surrounding you and playing upon your insecurities ie- Tommy & Co.
However her being into her looks can't possibly be all that true despite the fact that she is a beautiful woman. I say this because as you mentioned she has had a battle with weight and one who really is all about their looks would not let themselves get to the various physical low points Mariah has been at.

This weight thing is ridiculous. Mariah has never been fat. You have to remember that TV adds 10 pounds as well.
In person she looks slimmer. It's more what she chooses to wear.
Yes she was heavier for a bit, but far from "fat". Give me.a break.

I'm trying not to make assumptions based on our reviews so far, but one thing has me concerned: Mimi was the "Return of the Voice." I'm starting to think this era could be "The Return of the Whisper Notes."
Love or hate JD, he was the one who said to MC when they were recording WBT, "Quit this whispering stuff and sing the damn song full-voiced." He had that kind of working relationship where he could be honest with her. They had worked together many years so he could probably say something like that to her without risking her getting mad or walking out on him. Since The-Dream is the primary producer this time around, I'm not sure if he would have the cahones to tell Mariah her whisper voice stinks on a certain song and she should do it differently. Based on some of the early reviews and the clip of H.A.T.E U, we may be seeing the whisper voice again, which I don't think bodes well for the album. But again, purely speculation and I hope I'm wrong when the album comes out.
