She's back! I'll have to go to her wed site to see when her new album comes out (if it is on her new album, which I heard would be comeing out this fall) and to hear the new song.
Since Have You Ever Been In Love is finally around 700-800 plays and shes been gone for a few weeks and if this is the first single off of a brand new cd I'll say it will go #1.
Celine Dion has only gone two songs without a top 10 on POP, since she has had two non top 10, let's hope this goes top 10. Hopefully she'll release this in 5 or more weeks on Pop, so it can get I good start on AC before a 2nd single comes out.

Her wedsite says she has a live album due on June 15 for American and June 14 the world.
I hope this song it's live- a hate live versions of songs. But since it is Celine I may just like it!!

I hope this isn't a cover of Stevie Wonder.

It isn't.
Based on the clip I've heard of this, it sounds pretty good.

It's studio recorded, and it's a bonus track for the live album.
Like I said before, this is a very pop friendly song. Now if Sony would push it there...

I hope this isn't a cover of Stevie Wonder. Nope, it was written by Aldo Nova, a regular writer for Celine. This is just OK, nothing special though...and Celine needs something special to get radio's attention again.

I don't really like her recent material. It's so generic.

I downloaded it on iTunes. I like it more now. It's just kind of there. It's always nice to have really mainstream pop material like Celine's out there even if it's not really mindblowingly good.

It's decent.

CELINE DION You and I Producer(s): Aldo Nova, Peer Astrom Writer(s): A. Nova, J. Duval Publisher(s): WB Music/Deston Songs (ASCAP); Aldo Nova (SOCAN) Genre: AC Label/Catalog Number: Epic C22-04-00038 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: June 12, 2004
While Celine Dion's crown as the queen of Las Vegas remains firmly affixed, her national presence as a hitmaker has been scant of late. The plucky "You and I" is an ideal vehicle to launch a full-scale seasonal assault on the airwaves, with its love-my-man thematics and kinetic, summer-breeze tempo, akin to her signature "That's the Way It Is." Dion dispenses a joyful romp from the mic, sounding fresh and fully at ease, and she riffs just enough to stamp the song with a telltale trademark or two. "You and I" is one of two new studio tracks on the upcoming live disc, "A New Day . . . Live in Las Vegas," due June 15. She's off to a fine start; this is vintage Celine. Get to it, AC.βCT

Now convince Pop of that! Why do you want Celine on Pop so much? You're always saying how pop consists of only crappy rap songs and other stuff that you don't like. Why not just move over to AC and listen to that?

Maybe he does listen to AC. I know I listen to mainly Urban AC and Hot AC when I turn on the radio but that doesn't mean I'm not upset with the state of pop music. I'd love to be able to listen to pop radio without hearing an overload of bad hip-hop.

This song is as pop-friendly, if not, more than That's The Way it Is. The problem is, Sony doesn't give a shit about her anymore. All they care about right now is Beyonce, Jessica Simpson and random rapper. If Sony actually put in the effort, this could put Celine back on the pop charts. Besides, my AC stations don't add songs until they're going down the AC chart.

It seems to me that there isn't enough going on in this song for it to hold the attention of a pop audience. The long gaps between some of the lines (like "You and I...can touch the sky") aren't filled by much -- that sort of thing goes over better on AC, I think, whereas CHR/Pop tends to expect more "noise." More "noise" isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, it just seems more typical.
So personally, I don't think the song would see much play on CHR/Pop. Unless, of course, it was remixed, sped up, and perhaps given a more prominent bass. Actually, the song does have decent CHR/Pop potential as a remix.

It's pretty tough for AC artists like Celine Dion to make the pop chart nowadays. I thought Shania Twain and Sarah McLachlan's lead singles would do well on pop (both are "cooler" than Dion), but neither did much on pop either.

What's with this song's performance? I wouldn't have thought it the type to stall and creep slowly upwards. ???

Sony has given up on her on the AC Chart. I think she needs to get another promotion compnany!!!
I think Sony is trying to kill Jessica to, with two bad releases in a row.

That would be great!!
It would be nice if she did leave Sony, and hook up with some other label who pushed her to her max, then she gets two top 5 hits and her albums sells 10 million copies-- then Sony would be dieing to have her back.
How much does Sony get from each album sold. I've heard that the artist only gets $1 for each album sold.

I think it is all Sony's faught, because radio listeners still like Celine it's just Sony doesn't push her music, so stations don't play it. Both A New Day Has Come and I Drove All Night reached #2 on Open House's most requested. John even said "I Drove All Night at #2, man I can't believe Celine would have another hit this big." Even though Open House Party doesn't cover all of the US it covers a lot of parts.
Then who gets the rest of the money? ALbums can cost up to like $15 so I'm sure Sony would take a lot of it.
