So wait, did they already give up on FYE? ??? I mean I know it's not having a great start, but jeez, they gotta give it a little bit of a chance before going straight to single 2. And this is a horrible choice for 2nd single. There shouldn't be any song released from the album before Sleepwalker. That has the most hit potential by far.

Mmmmkay, RCA has to hope that other radio stations follow Z100 and add WWFM, since FYE is tanking. But it's not like other stations follow Z100 all the time. Z100 plays Cascada, but other stations don't follow suit is mass.
The spins on this are 95% OHP, with a few stations spinning it the following week as part of the "oh look what Adam Lambert is up to" morning show segments. Generally that's all she wrote and the song would fade into obscurity after OHP tires of playing it (unless it gets an actual add date). The only thing that could change things is if other radio stations take a cue from Z100.
I don't think RCA planned this at all. They're still working FYE. Z100 does what it wants, and it gets away with it because it's the #1 radio station in the country. Obviously Z100's PD wasn't liking FYE but was liking WWFM and said to hell with it, and added WWFM instead. It wouldn't be the first time Z100 has done something like that. But now that it's obvious WWFM is more radio friendly, Adam may have to start performing it.

They, being 19E/RCA, have a lot of money invested in him. I guess the slow reception to FYE has forced a panic and an atypical response from RCA? Usually they do one of two things if you are an Idol alum. Drop you if your first single goes nowhere. That's reserved for the new Idol's. Or make you ride out the single if it's underperforming even if it would be best to pull it and put out a new one. That's the method they used for those established already.
I thought he was guarenteed a second single because of their investment being so high, but I thought they'd wait until January if they did pull the plug on FYE. Just to see if the upcoming promotion could turn it around.

Maybe they can market FYE as the international single and then pretend that WWFM is his 1st domestic one? At least the music video won't go to waste. too late for that... too much hype and promo and attention already drawn to ''fye'' as the debut single... and adam has not exactly helped himself these last few days pr wise with these interviews that just seem to further expose him as some kind of ''caricature'' of idol's image of a pop/rock star... this implosion is no longer amusing to watch - it's become grotesque.

Z100 is also a more conservative station. They wouldn't play Britney's If You Seek Amy until there was a decent edit, and that delayed the song's rise. So it's not so unusual that Z100 would take one listen to FYE and say, "uh... I don't think so." So they skip ahead to what is most likely the second single.
On the upside for Adam's fans, it looks like once WWFM actually does start getting worked from RCA, it'll do pretty decently.

BIG BIG mistake they didn't release this as a first single. love this song! FYE is a great track but this is what radio wants. Glad to see them moving fast before its too late.

That's the thing--I don't think RCA is doing this at all. I think Z100 did this all on their own because they didn't want to play FYE. All of RCA's promo is still wrapped around FYE.

He's on his second single already and the first was just released a few weeks ago. Mess. Not exactly the start I envisioned for the world's "next superstar".

We don't actually know that. We know he did a music video for FYE and is performing it at the AMA's, but that's about it. It's not like it's unheard of for an artist to do two music videos and release multiple singles back to back. Rihanna and Lady Gaga are doing just that. Shakira is, to an extent as well.

Not exactly the start I envisioned for the world's "next superstar". um, sometimes things just don't workout as planned. if his first song didn't perform as expected is not the end of the world. you just get over it and move on. no doubt the guy has the talent to make it big.

But that's Rihanna and Lady Gaga and Shakira. What about Adam would make RCA think they can send two singles out at the same time and not have at least one totally and completely tank? If this is "strategy" it's the most hair-brained whacked out strategy I've ever seen. Z100 may be RCA's savior, but not because that was RCA's master plan. WWFM also doesn't have an add date yet.

^^ Sorry, poor wording. I meant adding songs that other stations are not adding, nor are likely to add.

That may be true for the dance songs Z100 adds that aren't really marketable to middle America, but this is a little different.
I'd compare this to a U+Ur Hand or a My Humps situation. Z100 wasn't really feeling Don't Lie and they added My Humps and the rest of America followed suit, dropping DL.

"Don't Lie" was WHORED by Z100 when it was added, going into the top 25 of their most played list of 2005. I think it's more of a "Whatever You Like"/"Live Your Life" or "Run This Town"/"Empire State Of Mind" situation.

I love FYE! Maybe this one will be good too...why does adam look like a girl on the cover to FYE the album. That's not going to sell records. I liked him better when he toned down his urge to do straight up drag some. It's such a turn off for a large segment of his buying audience gay guys and girls.

LOL, What a hysterical mess this is turning out to be. It's wildly entertaining. I wonder if it's too late to change his song for the AMAs? I mean, there's no undoing the video shot for FYE, but the AMAs didn't happen yet.

Well- a while back WWFM was rumored to be the first single. There was even a "leaked" and "shopped" photo of a webpage placeholder for it. Then the AMA performance was confirmed and hmmm... will WWFM make the kind of splash we want on a big stage with an audience of industry insiders and 13 million worldwide watching? Maybe we need a song with more visual punch- let's do FYE! Let it get some airplay, we can even do a music video (that may not see much USA play, but Europe will eat this crap up)! If it tanks we can go ahead and release WWFM like we originally intended. What's the worst that could happen- two singles, that's all. They're all doing it.
Gonna be an interesting couple of months!

Nah, Adam's said he's doing FYE at the AMA's, and there's video online of him auditioning dancers for it using FYE as their backing track.

First we have Katy rejects on Kelly's album, now P!nk rejects on Adam's/Allison's albums, that's a lot of recycling going on. Serious questions: is this due (in part, at least) to the rough economy, and labels not wanting to let money go down the drain?
