I am obsessed with his version of Fever and think that could be the big hit they're looking for. I cannot stop listening to it! This... is just a s**tty Pink reject. Yep. It really is. Its a reject from "Funhouse" Except it's better than Pink's current single :o

...this implosion is no longer amusing to watch - it's become grotesque. I feel the complete opposite: it's getting more and more entertaining. His album will do well for the year at least, though.

This was a reject for a reason.

KIIS-FM played it as well this morning. That's nice if it has the top two stations on board right away.

He could have been a star off of his voice alone. He's taking the "glam" thing a little to far. I can't imagine any male consumers purchasing this. I do think some males will buy it but the glam look (or trying to appear outrageous) as overshadowed the music. I'm sure he is going to sell great through the holidays but beyond that is the big question mark. I bet he opens with 375,000-400,000. His pre-sales on Amazon must be huge if Mayer opened with 300,000 and he has really lagged behind Adam and Susan Boyle all along. Carrie Underwood never got above #6 on Amazon and debuted at #1. Amazon reaches a specific audience--mostly older folks. Some artists just don't sell as well there.

FYE the single failed, so RCA and 19 scrambled and called in a favor from the 2 biggest stations to play WWFM prior to the album release. I bet we'll see an adds date pop up for this the week after the AMA's.

This is a good P!nk reject and it does fit his voice but he sounds like her in the beginning, i'm sure this will be a moderate hit for him

Something is going on because Z100 added this on a Wednesday. Unless they do that all the time. Otherwise is def looked like a favor to 19. Other stations will see that add all week and maybe get influenced to add it as well

If radio would not play the other song, they probably won't play this one either so people should not get their hopes up.

This song is more radio friendly than FYE, so I think it will do ok. FYE belongs in a club.

There isn't actually an add date yet, so it remains to be seen when one will pop up (effectively killing FYE along with its expensive video). It's definitely interesting to see how this plays out and if having Z100 and KIIS spin this will be enough to get follower stations to, um, follow.
This is definitely one of the most bizzare, schizo rollouts I've ever witnessed.

This is definitely one of the most bizzare, schizo rollouts I've ever witnessed. I could have been wrong earlier, stating that Z100 was just adding this on its own, especially now that KIIS has spun it. I can envision a scenario where RCA realizes Adam has almost no presence on radio, and FYE looks like it'll never get off the ground, yet Adam is releasing next week. They somehow get Z100 and KIIS to play a more radio-friendly track off his album in the few days before his album releases so at least he'll have some presence in the two biggest markets. I guess it remains to be seen whether this Z100 add was a "favor" and drop it soon after the agreed-upon time period, or whether Z100 is actually going to spin this as a real single, thus ushering out FYE and ushering in WWFM.

Love this and I bet I would really love Pink's version. I'm sure she killed it even more.
I still believe FYE should be given a bit more time before rushing this. A strong AMA performance could really help push FYE into being a decent hit. But WWFM is much better and very radio-friendly. This should be followed with "If I Had You" and "Sleepwalker."

Tomorrow all the OHP spins will be gone and it'll freefall down the chart.
Why is Z100 playing this and not FYE? Still makes no sense.

Tomorrow all the OHP spins will be gone and it'll freefall down the chart. OHP might spin it again. Why is Z100 playing this and not FYE? Still makes no sense. It makes sense if Z100 has decided that FYE isn't what their listeners want to hear. Better to have something from the album spun than nothing. It would seem odder to me if they spun FYE once, promptly ignored it for three weeks (and ignored the add date), then added WWFM without an add date and then started spinning the crap out FYE. Although, I guess maybe the label could be doing some sort of super-stealth strategy.

Been reading a lot in this thread and in the other thread about Adam being gay. Couple of observations by me. If Adam weren't gay, would this much hoppla surround the guy. I mean he can sing but Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly threw a lot of heavy weight behind this guy as soon as the show started. It was already out there that he was gay and that he wasn't going to shy away from being gay. I think he and his management have actually used that to his benefit. If he were straight I don't think we would see all this buzz about him. I think everyone is just a little curious to see if a flambouyant gay guy can make it big in the US. People keep comparing him to Bowie but Adam isn't Bowie. Not even in the same league. Bowie might have been flambuyont and bi or whatever but he was also one of the best songwriters EVER. Adam doesn't have that going for him (as far as I've heard so far).

Amazon is a pretty good barometer of how mainstream music will sell. Also, I think they make up about 10% of the music marketshare now. They've really picked it up the past several years.

As of August 2009, for all music sales (digital and/or physical CD) iTunes is #1 with 25% of the marketplace, Walmart is in second with 14%, and Best Buy comes in third.
I'd hardly say that Amazon is a pretty good barometer of mainstream music when it doesn't rank in the top 3.

I really think that RCA just expected For Your Entertainment to explode right out of the gate- maybe they overestimated Adam's hype and now they're trying to make up some ground.
They are doing an amazing job in other areas like getting him to close the AMAs, Billboard Magazine Cover, Babara Walters interview, to name a few.
