How is it a surprise? They played it before it even had an add date, much like Z100 and KIIS added it before it had an add date. The powerhouses started spinning this when single #1 (FYE, I know it's hard to keep track the rate things are moving) was still somewhat alive. Nothing about this OHP spin is a surprise, the only surprise is that RCA can't get them to spin it multiple times during the same show...

Kid, listen ... Daddy Theo has been here for a while and he knows lol ... OHP don't usually spin songs that are just added on the radio unless it comes from a very popular established artist on pop radio ... i am following their playlists for years. i know. :)
if KIIS & Z100 added the song has nothing to do with the OHP. so yeah, pleasant surprise to hear it tonight.

The point was - this song doesn't act like any other "new" song. New songs from unproven artists don't get adds in the top stations before they even have an add date, new songs from unproven artists don't get spun on OHP... But well, New unproven artists don't usually get to close off the AMA's, either. Get my point?

RCA desperately needs Adam to do well. I guess attempt #2 is working out better so far than attempt #1, but with this chaotic rollout, nothing is going to surprise me.

i think it's a great song. i think Adam is an extremely talented guy too. so if his label, the big stations and radio in general is pushing the song, good for them! :)
now, those who are not on the "bright" site of things of course will come in and say "it's not normal" and use that stupid "PAYOLA" word ... that's the hatteers easy way to attack a song. :) and i heard it on here a million times!

anyways, wooo hoooo at the +70 plus OHP from tonight ... exactly what the song needed for a good start!

If there is some sort of politics involved (and that's somewhat of a stretch, since the entertainment industry in the last 15 years has been quite gay friendly), Adam is not the poster boy for changing times. He comes off of the #1 TV show in America, is tremendously pimped by his management company, and has gotten every opportunity handed to him the last year.

If Adam was signed in the normal way, without American Idol, then maybe you can discuss how the media is treating him relative to straight artists. Although even that is difficult since prior to American Idol he was making non-mainstream and rather clumsy dance/pseudo-glam rock music that is tough to sell. Hence the reason he probably wasn't signed prior to Idol. I seriously doubt it had to do with his sexuality.

Obviously Adam has an advantage being the product of the #1 tv show in the country...I wasn't arguing against that. All I was saying was that if this song become a hit it will be the first by an openly gay artist since 1994...which is quite significant. Even the fact that he was asked to perform on the AMA's is a big deal. It's not often we see openly gay artists perform on major award shows.

In other news, I'm looking forward to seeing the OHP spins reflected in tomorrow's update! :)

Theo, I like this song. I'm just saying kind of random how OHP got wind of it the second FYE looked to be DOA, and that Z100 and KIIS randomly added it.

I think we have Z100 to thank for saving this project. They really got on WWFM early and it forced other stations to take notice. Also, thank god Adam performed it on the morning show and Letterman. I hope for more performances (and some remixes).

Singles should be:

I really wish Soaked could be a single but I just don't think it'd work. This album would have to be HUGE and it would have to be a later single. Unfortunately that ain't gonna happen. Such a brilliant album track though. The fact that every album reviewer hasn't gone ape shit over this track (even if they don't personally care for it) is a travesty.
