AGREE 100%. I don't dislike Adam but right out of the gate he used his sexuality to make him seem unique. Is every male gay artist given the cover of RS just because he is gay? To me he got promo not given to a new artist without a hit "just because he was gay." Hey, that's fine but if it comes back to bite you in the butt then don't scream discrimination. Adam's AMA performance was simply a mistake...a costly one for right now. However, whether he makes it or not at the level that the money has been shelled out to promote him won't be determined by ABC.

I think it's great for the song to have a few of the big ones spinning it, but it's interesting that even with that it's still going slowly. Maybe in January this one will actually start making an impact.

He had only 21 adds in pop, 5 of those stations were already spinning the song before the official add, and out of the new 16 stations, most are still giving it only about a spin or two overnight, so there's a lot more room to grow.

I hope those stations give the song more spins and add it to their daytime rotation as it increases in the top 40 chart.

KIIS are ??? though, why do they rarely play it in the last 3 days? It doesn't make sense.

KIIS are extremely rhythmic leaning, 80% of their playlist is urban songs. It was a miracle that they added this song at all. But yeah it'd be nice if they played it more.

It really is annoying that Adam doesn't have a hometown station. I would have expected one of the LA on San Diego stations to pick his songs and spin them like Little Rock spins Kris, like Richmond spins Elliott, etc.
It makes it harder for his songs to succeed when he doesn't have a station that spins it like crazy when the song is released.

"We decided not to move forward with the booking at this time," a rep for ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" told Access Hollywood in a statement about what would have been a December 17 appearance on the late night show.

But a source close to the situation told Access that "Jimmy Kimmel Live" took on network executives earlier this week in an attempt to keep the raven-haired wailer on their program.

"The show fought to really try and keep [Adam], but they were told it was a bigger deal [than the show]," the source said.

Adam was originally scheduled to sit down for an interview with the late night host and perform two songs on their outdoor stage.

Allison Iraheta, one of Adam's fellow "American Idol" Top 10, will now fill the December 17 slot, but the source said "Jimmy Kimmel Live" still wants to get Adam on their show as soon as things cool down.

Are there seriously people saying this hasn't officially been released as a single because there isn't a separate single cover? LOLOLOL. It went for adds on 11/24, one day after the album release. Considering how mightily FYE flopped, it is highly unlikely that RCA will create a single cover. Why would they? Most labels don't do that for second (or third) attempts at singles. So, yes, it has been officially released, has the big boys pushing it, and even with all of the media hype and extreme promotion, it is still moving slowly. As far as album sales, yep, he had a good (but not great) first week, as popular AI contestants do with debut albums. But it is now sinking fast. "This hasn't been released" doesn't work as an excuse any more than "He's gay." Sorry.

Are you saying because RS wants to sell magazine and used Adam's gay story == Adam deserve to be discriminated as gay? So let me get this straight, if gay people get any advantage in being gay, they must pay back by being discriminated after wards? Don't think that's how the law works. You are suggesting something akin to a women deserve to be raped because she was dressed slutty and flirted with someone. Ignorant and sad.

Down to #151 on iTunes. I'm disappointed it never cracked the top 100 even with the TV performances he did of it. Hopefully it stabilizes soon and then heads up as airplay increases.

He has performances in Conan and Leno later this month. Hopefully, with the additional airplay it gets by then, it will then crack the top 100.

LOL! You got all that from my post. Sorry, you misunderstood completely. I'm not going to try to explain it in a manner you can understand. I'm sure some people understood my point but at the end of the day it's just another opinion. It won't make or break Adam's career. It will be the songs (IF they connect with people) that will do that.

That is false. When Elliott released Fight For Love, the hometown station only added it and played it a few times (usually overnight) so not all Idols receive massive amounts of airplay on their hometown station.

Don't expect anything when it comes to hometown stations giving you spins.

The RCA representative posted on Adam's official forum again. Although it seems they're spinning it to say that WWFM is the "real" first single, they still mess up and talk about "FYE" as the single.

Hi, I don't have time to explain every detail about the radio business, but here are some insights.

Singles don't top the charts in 2 weeks, and Adam's single was only officially 'impacted' at Top 40 radio this week (there were a few early adds) because Adam/19/RCA didn't settle on the single until recently (heck, the album was only finished at the last minute because Adam was so busy with press and other work). Radio promotion can't start until a single is chosen, so blame Adam (god forbid!) or get over it. FYE is packed with hits and the selection wasn't easy.

Stations across the country are now adding the single to their playlists (36 TF and HAC format stations in all just this past week, including major market tastemakers like KIIS LA, KHKS Dallas, and KDWB Minneapolis), based on the song's excellence and RCA's take-no-prisoners radio promo team. In a few weeks' time, and after the song has accumulated close to 100 spins, these stations will begin conducting call-out and other kinds of research to gauge familiarity and popularity, and will then bump the daily/weekly rotations up or down depending on the result.

This is the true test of a hit single, because we can only finesse and find so many angles with which to defend a poorly researching song. But until then, this week's onslaught of adds should get "FYE" moving up the charts significantly, and into the top 40 by the time stations 'freeze' their playlists for the holidays, usually between 12/15 and 1/5, at which point the battle to take the single higher starts again.

In the meantime, thank you for calling your LOCAL stations to request "FYE," and please do remember the difference between requesting and harassing. Programmers are not amused by that sort of thing and may use it as an excuse to accuse RCA of putting you up to it, and NOT support the single. Station webmasters may not catch you disguising your IP address to request a million times or pulling some other trick, but it doesn't take a genius to smell something fishy if there are 10,000 Lambert requests vs. 15 for Lady Ga Ga...for example.

That's all, class dismissed, and no, these strategic revelations won't be a regular occurance, but hope it helps. Thanks.
