i think youre seriously selling her short. here in our office, we always have complmentary tickets on concerts on hollywood bowl for legends like dionne warwick, mccoo and davis etc., and they have no problems selling out the place just by themslves. there's prob little acts here and there, but on just the last one i remmeber that we have, dionne was the biggest name. shes not exactly queen of top 40 now.

plus, kenny did just fine on his staples and home depot concerts. granted, its kenny, but hes no crossover either.

I don't think I'm underselling Carrie at all. Dionne is a legend and Kenny is a touring force who has been around longer than Carrie. Plus, California isn't exactly known for their love of country music, so you have to factor that in too.

i know that. i live there. i was at kennys concert at home depot when carrie was just his first opening act.

im just saying, since you specifically mentionde crossover as one main force on whether crarrie would do well on this or not. i dont think its that. you just have fans who'll go to watch you or you dont. thats why i mentionde dionne not having any hits today anymore. i know shes a legend, and her audience is probably skewed towards those who actually have money to spend, but since she doesnt have new music anymore, most of those people are already diehard fans of dionne from way back, not people who are just listening to mainstream radio and happend to catch her.

carrie did just fine at the nokia theater (bummer wasnt able to watch that) even with the lakers having a game just next door. i think she'll do just fine at the hollywood bowl whether it sells out or not, or shes just the only big act or not.

I'm on ONTD, and usually it's 50/50 "hate this bitch" or "bitch is talented" and the like. But there's been 2 posts today about Carrie (one of her candids, and one of the TH music vid) and it's been mostly positive. I think in the long run, the whole Taylor Swift winning like, everything and being everywhere will make people realize how great Carrie really is.

And I don't think she'll have much problem selling out LA gig.

Actually Carrie sold like 15k tickets in Chicago this summer per night, right? I may be off a bit but she had great numbers.

Carrie sold out the Nokia in LA very very quickly last tour. I think she could have booked a second night and sold that out too, but they didn't try. I bet most were not hard core country fans at all, but American Idol fans or just general pop fans who like Carrie.

Big cities like LA, Chicago, and NYC are great markets for concerts, and Carrie has a big fan base in both areas, believe it or not. lol People take the train to NYC from 2 hours away, Boston, CT, upstate NY, etc. People would drive a few hours to LA too to see Carrie.

This time, she can easily sell 10-13k in the LA area, I think. But I agree she might not make 18k so maybe they can have a seating configuration that is not 18k, but 15k.

This is such a well-done video. When a video starts then immediately captures your attention such that when it ends, you realize that you had forgotten about reality and were enveloped in the storyline for those few minutes, it is powerful- much like a really, really well-made short story or film.

The two stories depicted from the verses were so real-life and not overdone, thereby keeping my interest. The the climax of the song and video certainly was the emotional dialogue between Carrie and her grandfather (I assume). It is so obvious that the expression of sadness on her face is so genuine- I would 100% guarantee that Carrie felt those very emotions at the time of shooting, not just because of the video story, but also because she wrote those very lyrics.

Although the song burned on me a while back, it is now clearly having a renaissance on my iPod because of the power of this video. Again, well done.

For the reasons neally mentioned, I am really looking forward to seeing Carrie act now. She genuinely felt the emotions in the video and hopefully she will play her future roles with as much conviction as she did with this one.

The Grammys or any official site never posted any performances from the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party for the first time last year. For this reason, I am annoyed that we may never get to see that performance >:(

The Ravinia shows sold out between 18-19K for each night last year. You have to take into consideration that Ravinia is a "Patron of the Arts" kind of venue. Roughly 3,000 seating capacity and 15K lawn seats per show.

Video of the Day (Or Year): “Temporary Home” Music Video by Carrie Underwood (Review)

It’s amazing how much 5 years can do to a person. Carrie Underwood has never ceased to amaze with her amazing voice and level-headedness, but lately she has taken her talent to a whole new level. Between the Grammys, her Christmas special, and upcoming stints in movie and television, Carrie’s on top of the world. Not to mention that her third album, Play On, is by far her greatest set of recordings to date. Obviously I can’t sing her praises enough. Today, Carrie’s video for her latest single, “Temporary Home” went live on iTunes and it’s beyond phenomenal. Even as a pretty big Carrie fan (What, you mean it’s not obvious?), I was floored at how great the video turned out to be. The directors took a different approach by incorporating everything together in the storyline, and, even more surprisingly, putting Carrie at the center of the whole production. She pulled off her scenes wonderfully and it all came together in way that destroyed all expectations.

You know how I feel about it, here’s the opinion of the rest of The Conservative Journal staff:

Angelica: As I said during my Grammy live blog, I’ve never really paid much to attention to Ms. Underwood other than acknowledging her as a pleasant singer. I was EXTREMELY impressed with her Grammy appearance and this video only serves to increase my newfound respect for her. It’s really beautiful and brilliantly made video.

Michael: First off, how beautiful is Carrie Underwood? She looks amazing in this video. As for the actual video, I’d say it’s definitely her best yet and one of the most touching videos in recent memory. I love the direction they took with it and it’s a great accompaniment to an amazing song.

Suzanne: Oh my gosh, I can’t even begin to describe this video. I do like Carrie Underwood, but I’m not a mega-fan like Rick. As a woman of Faith myself, I can have nothing but enumerable respect for a huge celebrity that has the audacity to release a song with such a message. And the video… Let me just say that I cried. Hard. I’d venture to say that I’ve never cried that hard when watching a music video. I’ve never had one hit home like that before, as I can totally relate with the message of the song and video. It’s brilliant, just brilliant. Carrie, once again I have the utmost respect for you.

Carrie plans her dream wedding!

The Grammys are known as the music industry's biggest night, but on Jan. 31, all country superstar Carrie Underwood seemed to be thinking of was her big day. When asked on the red carpet whether she and pro hockey player Mike Fisher, who got engaged in December, have set a date yet, Carrie excitedly replied, "Not officially; we're kind of bouncing a few around." She also reported that her mother and Mike's mom had just met for the first time. "His parents live in Canada and mine live in Oklahoma," she explained. "They got to hang out. I think they're both very excited," she said recently.

Consider the groom equally revved up. Days earlier, when talking to Life & Style via phone from his room at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston on Jan. 22, Mike shared three points he and Carrie have already agreed on. "It's going to be a good size wedding with plenty of good food and an open bar," he told Life & Style. "But nothing too overblown. It's still in the planning stages, so a lot of the details haven't been finalized." He admitted that his fiancée would be handling most of the specifics. "As you might expect, Carrie's involved in a lot of the details," he said, adding with a laugh, "I'll just be showing up."

Carrie already has a clear idea of how she wants to look when she and Mike tie the knot. Her dream dress? "I want it to be pretty traditional," she's explained. "I think I want flowers on it -- not real flowers. [The designer will] probably be someone I've worked with before." Is someone already sewing away? "We can't even think about her wedding yet," Carrie's stylist, Trish Townsend, told Life & Style on Feb. 1. "We just got through the Grammys. Next is the Super Bowl -- she's singing the national anthem." Roberto de Villacis, who designed one of Carrie's looks for the 2009 Country Music Awards and dressed the star for the video of her 2009 hit "Cowboy Casanova," says he'd be thrilled to do the honors. "I love designing for Carrie," De Villacis tells Life & Style. "Since meeting her, I've been thinking about her wedding dress. Carrie's sweet, feminine, romantic. I'd propose a glamorous Southern-belle gown in French Chantilly lace with a floral pattern. She's petite, so the best silhouette would be a long and lean flute."

Carrie Underwood Will Perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 2 February 3, 2010

Carrie Underwood will make her first concert appearance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 2. Her performance will feature the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Tickets go on sale on Feb. 14. As previously announced, Underwood will sing the national anthem prior to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami on Sunday (Feb. 7). She will launch the first leg of her 2010 Play On tour on March 11 in Reading, Pa.
