Press release is out! Carrie has 6 nominations!!! Artist + composer for CC in SOTY :)

Carrie Underwood is nominated for six awards, including Entertainer of Year. Underwood is the reigning Entertainer of the Year, and, if she wins that category again, she will be the first female in Academy history to capture two Entertainer of the Year trophies. Underwood is also nominated as an artist and composer for Song of the Year for “Cowboy Casanova,” as well as Vocal Event of the Year for “I Told You So” with Randy Travis. In addition, Underwood is nominated for Top Female Vocalist and Album of the Year for Play On. If she wins Top Female Vocalist, it will be the fourth consecutive year she has won the category. Underwood also won the 2006 Album of the Year for Some Hearts.

Wow. So happy that PO got some love! I'm pleasantly surprised about CC's nomination, especially in the Song category. I thought it'll be for Single instead. But regardless, congrats to Carrie!

^ Desi, if Carrie gets the Triple Crown Award presented to her at this year's ACMS, that will be 7 nominations really. :) I hope they present Carrie the Triple Crown THIS year. :)

I actually think CC is the strongest song in the category, but I think Miranda is going to have a big night. Happy for her. :)

I think Miranda will win Album, Carrie will win Vocal Collab and MAYBE Female Vocalist, but Taylor will win EOTY since it is fan voted.

Hopefully, Carrie wins Song of the year for CC, and Miranda wins Single for White Liar. I can see Lady A winning one or both of those categories too though. They will also have a big night.

What is the Triple Crown Award?

Well, Tee, if she gets the Triple Crown, that's already an award. It's not a nom ;) She became eligible for the Triple Crown last Year. How does that work anyway? They use the term "eligible," so does that mean it's not automatic?

Mike, the Triple Crown Award is "the Academy’s recognition of those who have taken Top New Artist, Top Artist and Entertainer of the Year awards." Carrie has won all of those, winning Entertainer last year.

^ Cary at CF said that Triple Crown award IS an actual trophy that you are given. Barbara Mandrell is the only Female to have ever won this award, I think, at the ACMS? Desi you are right it is not a nomination, as we already know she won it. lol My bad.

Tonight, romantic Ted (Josh Radnor) took a break to make room for jerk Ted, who was trying to woo pharmaceutical rep Tiffany (Carrie Underwood) while leading on another girl. Tiffany's got Ted hooked good, but every hook needs bait and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) has found the perfect bait after unsuccessfully attempting to use a trampoline and a slot machine. What do girls love? Little, cute baby animals, of course! Have you seen the number of cat videos on YouTube? Ted borrows Barney's teacup pig – does he buy a new one when it grows too big? -- to lure Tiffany up to his place. But girls aren't the only ones who love the charms of baby animals, Tiffany reveals when she tells Ted her boyfriend would like the teacup pig too. Well, he's not really her boyfriend. Wait, yes, he is, technically, but she likes Ted. She just can't be with him. Right now. Hook. Line. And sinker.

I had trepidation upon first hearing that Underwood would be making her acting debut on the show, but I have to admit I found her charming and funny -- “I've always been hot. What are you going to do?” was a highlight – even though she was playing an unlikable and selfish character in some ways. To use the word Ted called himself for keeping Henrietta (Catherine Reitman) the librarian on the hook, she was a jerk. But also like Ted, Tiffany was being hooked herself by her boyfriend. When Ted realized that, he went to let Henrietta go, but not before accidentally proposing to her and meeting her parents.
Lily (Alyson Hannigan) also tried to let her hookee go. Scooter (David Burtka), her high school boyfriend who tried to win her back at her wedding to Marshall (Jason Segel), has been working at the school cafeteria where Lily teaches. Turns out “lunch lady scooter” does not refer to a scooter that carries tired lunch ladies around, as Marshall believed. Marshall forces Lily to practice telling Scooter she doesn't want to be with him ever on the teacup pig. It takes several attempts – I'm starting to wonder where I can buy a teacup pig myself – but Lily finally does it. Then she tells Scooter face to face that there's no hope for them. But maybe the fact that Marshall was standing behind the pig means he didn't build up the same defense system because he falls for Scooter's sad eyes and yells, “Hang in there, Scoots! I'm not going to live forever!”


Props to Segel, who dressed up as a gigantic, bumbling teenage version of Marshall, zits and all, for a flashback to the time Marshall got hooked. It was made even funnier because Segel was acting opposite a girl who actually looked like she could be in high school.

Robin (Cobie Smulders) has also hooked someone. She's got her older cameraman from work giving her foot massages and doing her laundry for a chance after “right now.” But it's not her fault if he got hooked because “our girl parts are like a spider web. Sometimes you're going to catch stuff you don't want.” Oh, Robin.

Meanwhile, Barney is in pharma girl heaven with Tiffany and her coworkers. Apparently, pharmaceutical sales rep is the new hot girls job. Previous hot girl professions: gatherer to man's hunter, nurse, flight attendant. Is this how Ted met Tiffany? Her introduction was a bit sudden and unexplained. Did she catch his eye at a doctor's visit with free samples and pens?

According to this, it got 10.5 million viewers. After a quick search, it appears to be the highest rated episode of the season. Unfortunately, I think it may have suffered to do The Bachelor's finale being at the same time. Nonetheless, strong ratings. :)

Edit - CORRECTION! Second highest rated by a smidge. Still, great! Also, there is a banner on iTunes advertising the episode.

I just finished watching the episode now. Loved Carrie in it. My favorite line was 'I've always been hot, whataya gonna do?'. She was so cute. I hope she does more one-off guest appearances on TV shows in the future. Like, say, CSI or something. Hell, maybe they'll invite her back on HIMYM? They did with Britney Spears.

I am also pleasantly surprised by all the nominations and I think everyone of them (except Vocal Collab) will be tough and a real nail-biter. I think the one I want Carrie to win the most is Female, but I think she is most deserving of Album. "Play On" is phenomenal and I'm glad it at least got recognition with a nomination. A win would be well-deserved.

I was actually surprised at how good and natural Carrie was playing her part. I'm almost positive this will not be her last appearance on a tv show. The camera likes her.
