Desi, you have mail.
As for the piano bit, I love how she's utilizing some of the skill she learned growing up.

Ugh, that's what I get for skimming. My bad. Still, I'm hoping for at least five (Quitter and Someday When I Stop Loving You MUST be released). I'm telling you, if SDWISLY is not released, some glass will be shattered. What do you think of the tour set Will? I think it's pretty much perfection. I just glanced over the list and saw the inclusion of SDWISLY. I must be immediately informed when a video surfaces. She's definitely singing all my favorites! Meanwhile, how could I immediately embrace the greatness that is Quitter without initially falling in love with its half-sister This Time? Baffling.

OMG I want to hear the SLT so bad, to hear the Miranda and Beyonce lines! lol I cannot wait till tomorrow! Did Carrie play guitar for GOOTT this tour? I am SO happy she kept that song in the setlist. I do miss FOTF a bit, but there are already alot of edgy man bashing songs in the lineup, so it was a good move to keep GOOTT and cut FOTF. I believe GOOTT was an intro to the John Denver song so I don't think she played guitar. She was riding in a truck flying over the crowd after all.

Does This Time remind anyone else of a mix between Get Out Of This Town and Quitter? I'm loving it.
Also, I don't understand why Someday When I Stop Loving You doesn't have a televised performance at this point? It's the perfect song to showcase her flawless vocals. I suppose, as someone informed me before, it's because she doesn't perform future singles on tv prior to their release (hey, I can dream).

So did Carrie ever end up performing "Play On" during the concert? No it was used during a video montage though. I can't get over the stunning scenery:

So sad that Carrie didn't sing Unapologize... I honestly thought it would be this era's IKYW... ='(
Stephen, you win for the best avatar here... I LOVED that skit and her face expression of mission accomplished and delight that you captured is the best!!

6 slow songs in a row is not a great idea though....I think they should break that up. i can promise you that the vast majority of the attendees will disagree with that statement. When Carrie gives GREAT performances on 6 slow songs in a row; thats epic. I don't think people really realize how great her choices have been for most of her ballads. i never understood needing to always break up her ballads. the concert moved really well

I'm not sure. it's like information overload trying to remember everything. I don't think words can adequately describe the tour; you have to see it for yourself. Hopefully with the videos popping up on YT it'll help.
She didn't chatter a whole lot, it was like bam bam bam, 22 great performances in a row (the wardrobe changes were extremely quick, and JTTW/HGTA was a medley so i count that as 1)
I'm a minimalist when it comes to stage production so i wasn't sure what to think or expect. The production was well done; no where close to being over the top at all. The videos were very nice complements to the performances.
Some of the uber fans, especially of the band members may not like that her band was put pretty far back and so they couldn't interact much with the crowd. That's a non issue to me since Carrie is a solo artist and the focus is on her incredible vocals.

tennisbby18 also has full vids. Full vid of This Time: Carrie looks sooo happy! And it seems the crowd enjoys the fly-by In Mama's Song, I love how in the end, when Carrie and Mike's picture is shown and the crowd cheers, Carrie also gets this huge grin on her face and then she turns her head to look at the pic at the very end. Cute!

Oh my gosh it is so hard not to watch the videos. lol
I will try to live tweet tonight because Craig Morgan might do a duet with Carrie, if they are alternating like he said....or-- they might pick a different Fan voted song.
I wonder if she will do Summer of 69 tonight, or one of the other choices?? I voted rock, but I imagine they can't do rock every night. lol

Thanx! duh! lol I love that song! :) EDIT: Another Concert review from Reading PA! It is very positive! :) blogs.mcall.com/lehighvalleymusic/2010/03/carrie-underwood-opens-tour-in-reading-with-lots-of-bells-and-whistles.htmlMarch 12, 2010 Carrie Underwood opens tour in Reading with lots of bells and whistlesTotal People in Discussion: 0 Categories: Concert Reviews, Country Posted by Keith Groller at 05:16:19 AM on March 12, 2010 Considering her booming voice and Covergirl looks, if there's anyone in the country music business who doesn't need any special effects or any high-tech wizardry during her concerts it's Carrie Underwood. Give this lady a microphone, a band and a playlist of songs and that's a night of entertainment. It's why she won "American Idol" and why she has gone on -- as Simon predicted -- to sell more records than other Idol performer. But on her new "Play On" concert tour which debuted Thursday night at Reading's Sovereign Center before a sellout crowd of more than 7,000, Underwood seemed determined to give her audience much more than her music. She has one of the most elaborate stage productions you'll ever see for a concert and the stage became an attraction almost immediately. Underwood didn't just walk out on stage, she was lifted up to it from below as a giant cage simultaneously dropped from above to conceal her. Talk about an entrance -- the stage floor rises, the cage lifts and Underwood emerges on some sort of a couch and wearing a tux for her latest big hit, the sassy "Cowboy Casanova." That was just the start of the bells and whistles. Later, the stage became a virtual forest with a giant rope and swing hanging from a fake tree limb. Underwood swings high into the air while still managing to hit all the right notes on the poignant "This Is Just A Dream." Even more spectacular was her emerging high above the crowd in the back of an airborne, blue, pickup truck, singing John Denver's "Country Roads." "No, you're not seeing things. ... I'm in a giant blue truck in the air," she said, looking down at dozens of stunned faces in the audience. Underwood went through a couple of songs while the truck made a giant U-turn through the arena's rafters and returned to the stage, like some sort of Disney World ride. For an instant, the stage also became the Grand Ole Opry, the perfect backdrop for a classy duet of "I Told You So" with Randy Travis, who prerecorded his portion and appeared on one of the three giant video screens that were effectively used all night. There was also a live duet with the Sons of Sylvia, one of the two opening acts. Underwood also sang a song from a portable rock and a baby grand piano that vanished just as quickly as it emerged from that magical hole in the center of the stage. Adding to the ever-changing scene were the seven musicians in her band and a backup singer who also got to roam around while positioned on moveable stage pieces. As if all the changing scenery on the stage wasn't enough, Underwood changed outfits about five times and the crowd got another taste of Disney World at one point because her dress lit up and became a mini-light show like one you might see on a float in a Magic Kingdom parade. While she certainly gets an "A" for effort, perhaps all of the props, stage movement and theatrics was a bit too much and her numerous departures from the stage seemed to break the show's momentum. Even she said at one point, ""I know you're wondering 'Where is she going next?' Are any more clothes coming off?'' This is the fourth time I've seen Underwood and she has certainly become a more polished entertainer from the one who appeared at Musikfest in the summer of 2006 or The Allentown Fair in September of 2007. She's not the shy kid from Oklahoma anymore and reveals different sides of her personality as her one-hour, 50-minute performance goes through 20 songs. One minute, she's singing "How Great Thou Art" on the back end of "Jesus Take The Wheel" and the next moment she's the embarrassed girl who had too much too drink and a one-night stand on "Last Name." But on this night, and maybe it's because it was the first concert on a worldwide tour that will also have stops in Atlantic City on March 19, Trenton on March 26 and Wilkes-Barre on March 29, Underwood seemed a little distracted about where she had to go, what she had to wear and what was coming up next. When she was actually on stage between songs, she talked a few times to the audience, but not for long. She didn't seem interested in talking about her birthday which was on Wednesday (she turned 27). From a technical standpoint, there were few glitches. There was a loud pop in the sound system a few times, but nothing too distracting. As for her set list, Underwood always offers a good mix from rollicking pop to tender ballads and occasionally there's actually a country song, too. Those wanting more country probably appreciated Craig Morgan's 10-song set more than Underwood's. Underwood showcased many of the songs from "Play On," her third and newest album, and at least four or five of them have hit potential, including her latest release, the spiritual "Temporary Home.' But the show-stopping number actually comes on a song that hasn't been a hit for her, "I Know You Won't," from "Carnival Ride," her second album. She nearly takes the roof off by reaching the highest register of her voice. It earned the night's biggest ovation. And, really, when it's all said and done and the lights go off, the stage stops shifting and the streamers and confetti are swept from the floor, Underwood's voice is still the most special effect of all. Woooooowwwww at "How Great Thou Art!" :o Take 'em to church, Carrie!
JTTW + HGTA
ETA: Loved "What Can I Say" also. Vid's already posted above. Carrie and Ashley were so dramatic! So far from the videos, I'm loving the ballads :)

Ashley's expression during the performance actually freaked me out. It seemed like he was in serious pain.

Haha! I'm not sure I like Ashley's extra part at the end. As for the duet itself, I was watching Carrie more and I loved the passion she had while singing.
ETA: That review above gives special mention to "I Know You Won't." Just like almost all the Carnival Ride tour reviews. Seriously, the way Carrie sings that song is just amazing. I'm so happy it's in the setlist. It's a showstopper.

OMG IKYW and How Great Thou Art were AMAZING!!! :O Loved her Summer of 69 cover too!
The effects, props and stage designs are breathtaking! Although I do think it's a bit too much, but hey, the audience seemed to love it :)
The only things I'm not really liking are the lit-up dress for Change (takes away the emotional effect of the song IMO) and that feathery dress for JAD.

I'm one of those special effects nerds so I LOVE the stage set up and all. Her voice sounds incredible and, considering the major production and the fact that it's her first show, she looked incredible at peace and comfortable with it. There were some moments in the vids where even Carrie seems a bit lost, but after a few shows she'll figure the tour stage out completely.
PS: LOL at us criticizing her clothing choices. That proves how damn good everything else is, haha.
