Great videos! I haven't got through all of them yet but so far, Carrie is fantastic! I'm so glad she left in IKYW. SWISLY was killer, as I knew it would be, and I loved the flying truck! Is it April yet??

WHOA! Last Name was awesome. Check out around 2:55 on that part where she usually sings high. She goes even higher! Lots of extras too! LOL at the end (from around 3:48) when they lower her too early! At least we know there are people watching her for instructions

LOL at the end (from around 3:48) when they lower her too early! At least we know there are people watching her for instructions on the flip side, when she was being raised up in that short dress, all the guys were holding their breaths and getting their cameras ready. i thought we were going to catch an eyeful if they raised her up any further she showed off her ring during the "how this ring on my left hand just appeared" line.

Vinman--- WGNA FM 107.7 Albany NY is having Carrie and Craig Morgan do a live broadcast after the show tonight, so you may want to cap it! I think the concert ended at like 11pm EST last night in PA, so I think it might start around then. I am not sure if it is an interview per se, but I think it is, as they said they are hosting some sort of post concert party, and it will be live from the broadcast booth.

Does anyone know what song Carrie sang on this episode of Regis and Kelly? It's repeating soon:

ok I lied. I posted this over at carriefans as a thoughts thing more than a review but it ended up pretty long I don't even know how to do a review that will justify the show, so I won't go into details (there's so much to talk about its like information overload for me). I'll just mention a few things that are more general. You should see the show if you can, and I think you'll know why it's hard to do a detailed review. Hopefully the YT vids can help those who can't go to a show. So, some tidbits and thoughts 1) Ashley might want to hit the gym, he was panting HARD after just 2 songs (on the other hand, Craig and Carrie went on and on without appearing gassed). He was panting HARD whenever he was talking to the audience, and I think before SOS' 4th song, he mumbled "pray for me". One of the brothers mentioned they are cousins with Ryan Tedder (the musician world is such a small one) and co wrote a song with him. 2) Both Craig and Carrie sang a gospel song during their respective sets. Craig is a bit too red neck country for my liking, but there's no doubt he has a great voice. Hopefully we get to see him duet with Carrie, because I have no doubt he can hold his own. 3) Production. I am at heart a pretty hard core minimalist when it comes to stage production, but the production was not over the top at all. I thought the videos were great and enhanced the songs. I could have done without 1 or 2 of the props (the stone during SWISLY, or as my friend put it, the potato), but this is being picky. If you're more a visual person, you will enjoy all the enhancements; yet if you're not, Carrie really has a great collection of songs and you can just focus on her voice. 4) I know there is talk about UI being the next single, and me not being a huge fan of that idea. However, the video that was played during the performance was pretty hot; so if that becomes the music video, I wouldn't mind UI being a single. 5) My main concern is the truck that she gets on. Yikes. If that thing drops, it'll drop onto the audience as well, and someone's gonna get sued and jailed for it. While a great spectacle, i'm not sure how it was for the audience that was right beneath the truck. Also, someone on the FC noticed, the plates on the truck read "CULV12". Which brings me to my next observation... 6) Mama's Song really is a disguise for Mike Fisher's Song. It's going to be crazy in the Ottawa stop. I hope for Fisher's sake he isn't going to be seated next to Jarkko Ruutu because he'll definitely be sending a few jabs his way. I still think the lyrics are pedestrian, but the sincerity in the way she sings it really warms the heart. 7) For those wondering if she was going to perform with her ring, the answer is a yes. Seated 13 rows away, it was still shining right into my eyes on occasion. She even showed it off during the "how did this ring on my left hand appear" line during LN... speaking of which 8) She had this short dress during LN. and then she started to get lifted up, I think all the guys were starting to lift up their cameras (with breaths held). I was thinking we were all going to catch an eyeful; and then they stopped raising her. lol 9) She really didn't chat much (if at all). She didn't even say what she did for her birthday (we only know because someone asked during the M&G). But when you are going through 22 great performances (and it was like bam bam bam) you really don't need the chatter. I think you can see in my photos what a blast she had. 10) I think this concert experience just proves what a good overall album Play On is. Add to that most of her hit singles (all her singles have been really great thus far), and of course still having IKYW in it. I'm really impressed how aware she is of fan sentiment, and it's still a highlight of her set. I read a few comments (maybe not on here) that there were too many ballads and wondering about flow, but she already left DFTRM and LAM out; and honestly, when you have great performance after another, who cares if she had 5 or 6 ballads in a row. That to me is a mark of a truly great vocalist. The concert is really a wonderful showcase of her musical career. So that was pretty detailed in the end, but there's still a ton more that I didn't talk about and it just won't be possible for me to cover unless i don't intend to get off this site for the rest of the day. If you made it this far, my pics are here... jeffreading2019.blogspot.com/some samples link to my YT page www.youtube.com/user/jeff48109

OMG Jeff your pictures are amazing! Even though I don't like that funky yellow and white skirt, the background of that photo looks like a Broadway show of Oklahoma. :)
I guess it pays off to have the This is It producer. :)
PS: I am not going to read your review till after I get home tonight. lol I want a few surprises anyway. lol

6 slow songs in a row is not a great idea though....I think they should break that up. i can promise you that the vast majority of the attendees will disagree with that statement. When Carrie gives GREAT performances on 6 slow songs in a row; thats epic. I don't think people really realize how great her choices have been for most of her ballads. i never understood needing to always break up her ballads. the concert moved really well I agree with Jeff. I didn't even notice it was 6 in a row. (Technically, I guess it was 5 since Jesus Take The Wheel morphed into How Great Thou Art). But the Wheel/Art was the top highlight of the night at that point. It got a standing ovation. (Before He Cheats always goes on to get the most applause). I Told You So works really well the way they set up the background scenes for that song (I got a huge chuckle over when Carrie couldn't contain herself and laughed after pretending she was talking directly to Randy Travis). Mama's Song on the rotating piano works particularly well, too. If these were all just straight ballads without any extra effects going on, then I agree it might not work very well. But you really don't even notice there's that many ballads in a row. TSharky - I predict you'll change your opinion after you see it live tonight :)

what the heck was that skirt? looks like birds drapde over her. Well, she did say she would fly over the audience... Super-lame, I know. Doesn't even quite fit but I couldn't resist. Thanks to Typo, Stephen, chez, leilamaurizia, vinman, tsharky and of course, jeff and robrt30 for posting set list updates, video, recaps and reviews. I made a quick beeline for the video of Carrie covering "Take Me Home, Country Road." I love that song -- my parents would always play it when I was a kid. A lot of Carrie's cover choices make me think that we were listening to a lot of the same music growing up. Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise to see that Carrie and her band bluegrassed it up. I had expected a straightforward, faithful and pretty cover (and would have been perfectly happy with that, to be honest), but I really like this take on it. Although "Summer of '69" was (and is) a big karaoke favorite for my friends and me, my initial thought was that it's a rather middle-of-the-road pick for a rock cover. But I watched the video, and I ended up really liking what Carrie did with it. I have enjoyed Carrie's pop metal covers, but am happy to move on from them. jeff and robrt30, what was your impression of the venue acoustics and sound mix? Carrie's voice sounds impressively clear in the videos, a credit to you and the other videographers, for sure, but I'm wondering if Carrie's sound people are doing a better job of ensuring that she can be heard over the band without having to really belt over them. I'm not sure I should comment on this without having been there, but the set list seems to do a good job of representing Carrie's myriad influences (basically, the four categories for which fan club members can vote in the concert song selection poll). The only real surprise inclusion to me is "Some Hearts," which I would have traded for "I Ain't in Checotah Anymore" or "Flat on the Floor" (if we were looking for uptempo songs, that is). But then, maybe Carrie preferred to include a love song. I'm also with others in wishing that "Look at Me" had made its way into the set. I adore the interpolation of lines from "White Liar" and "Single Ladies" into "Songs Like This." I obviously can't comment on how it all played live, but the visual aspects to the show seem pretty good to me, at least in theory. I had some concerns that we were going to see Hollywood flashy and ultimately emotionally cold elements that fit neither Carrie's personality nor the songs. But I like the set-up for JaD, the swing reinforces the innocence of the young girl and her now-shattered dreams. I really love the Opry set-up for ITYS, as well as the inclusion of Randy Travis -- nice way to promote the Opry and what a lovely way of honoring Randy. The truck seems like good fun, as long as it works. Based on Keith Groller's review from the Lehigh Valley Morning Call and jeff's comments, it will be interesting to see how the flow of the show (which, in my view, was something Carrie needed to work on from the CR tour) and Carrie's banter evolve. I do think more individualized show banter will be needed to help engage the audience personally. But as several have pointed out, first shows tend to feature less free-wheeling banter as the artist feels out the live show and how long and well it is playing.

Thanks for posting; the performance was great! The only criticism I have is that I hope in future performances she tones down the vocals a bit more. I'd like them a little softer and sweeter (with all that power, it must be difficult haha).

The addition of the Beyonce/MirLam lines is just genius. I wonder if they're going to change up the included songs once in a while or it's going to be WL and SL all the way. It's gonna be fun to keep guessing if they keep changing it. I've gotta say, I really, really love Songs Like This live. Love it on the TV special and I love it now. It's just so fun!

Haha, I've been wondering the same thing. It would be hilarious if she changed out the songs like this, although I'm not sure how much they would affect the song performance licensing fees. I must say I totally cracked up at Jeff's comment about Ashley needing to go to the gym. I thought the poor guy was going to have a seizure singing with Carrie on WCIS. I've always pictured Carrie and Keith being a better match for WCIS. Ashley just doesn't have the pipes, and looks like a real amateur next to Carrie.
....but gotta love Carrie's dedication to those close to her.
Tee is probably gonna faint after tonight's show. lol
