you know what, i think there are 2 versions of this song, because the first few times i heard it was on a DC station which was probably the DC version i was talking about
today on a baltimore station i heard the version you all were probably talking about and i could hear the crazy in love similarities. if they do in fact have 2 different versions, the DC version is MUCH better, because i don't remember ANY crazy in love similarities

I had to admit, I had to hear this song again. There are two different simularities between Amerie's One Thing and Beyonce`'s Crazy In Love. Amerie's release has a real band backing her on this (therefore, no samples) and it sounds nice. Crazy In Love, however, samples a Chi-Lites classic with Jay-Z's annoying rap on it. After listening to Amerie again, it's about to grow on me in a big way.

And if there are any similarities, the producer of Crazy in Love did this track as well.
I personally am feeling it. I'm from DC and Amerie and Rich Harrison are repping that go-go.

whoa, you people have it all wrong. I'm from amerieonline.net n we are in love with "one thing". I think its one of Amerie's most catchy songs. How is it a rip off of beyonce?...rich harrison never produced a track for beyonce, then amerie. He was originally Amerie's producer...then after Amerie's album was released, he produced crazy in love...so if anything, beyonce is rippin amerie off if u want to play your game!

Someone said it sounds like Crazy in Love; well it kinda has the same feel as JLo's new song. Well, Duh, the same dude worked on all three, and it appears that's one of his signatures. It kinda has a Philly sound to them. I love Amerie's; however, I don't like JLo's (I can't stand songs where you can't tell what the person is saying). Also, to me, JLo's sounds like a menacing alarm clock that you want to smash against the wall and put out of its misery forever (Oh, did I say that?). Amerie's One Thing is aiight. I mean, I like it, and I like it a lot. It's hot and different. So what it puts you in the mindset of Crazy in Love; but how many other artists out there put out things everyday, all the time, that sound like one or another. At least this one only sounds like one or two.

Ay yo... this track definitely comes with the freshness! I don't know about this grow on me process. When I first heard it I was pressed b/c the DJ on the radio station didn't say who it was by @ the end. Maybe its cuz I heard the go-go version we've been talkin about (the station I listen to plays go-go all the time) and I am a [glow=red,2,300]certified go-go head[/glow]but it was great. I'm at work and on the internet tryna find out all the 411 I could about this track. I figured it was Amerie cuz she's got a unique voice, it's i.d.-able. Holla.

What up guys? LOL, I also from that amerieonline.net message board, but the difference is that I'm not crazy. Personally I don't see the comparison to "Crazy In Love." It's like saying that all Pock/Pop/R&B/Reggae/Alternative music is the same. It's just that they were all inspired by the same type of music, Go Go, which is widely popular in DC. This just so happens to be where the producer is from so this is what he knows well and what he is trying to bring out into the mainstream. Saying this song is anything like "Crazy In Love" is like saying it's just like Jennifer Lopez's "Get Right or Usher's "Ride" (same beat as "Get Right" incase you never heard it) and his "Whatever U Want." All produced by Rich Harrison. In my opinion Amerie's in the most original, imaginative, and well placed track out of all that he has done in this style. I guess it's because the lyrics are better. Just because two tracks have horns and drums doesn't mean that one is copying off the other. Oh, by the way this beat is old anyway. It was made in June 2003, but the label hated it so he just held onto it. I guess Amerie ended up loving it and used it.

I don't love it. I did love "All I Need." She should have went with that one. What happened to it anyway?

I don't love it. I did love "All I Need." She should have went with that one. What happened to it anyway? I honestly think her album was about done and was modeled after the first one. The general response was that the song sounded too much like "Why Don't We Fall In Love," so she went back into the studio with Lil' Jon and the Trackmasters to record new material.

Funny you should mention that. I played that song on my show today and one disgrunted female listener called and said, "What the hell is that song you're playing? It's sick, take it off, I hate it!" Actually that was one over-liberated woman's opinion, but I respect that of her and really don't give a damn. Love Plastic Love, I do agree with you on this. It's not really terrible, but different.
