I really wish people wouldn't try to re-create "Crazy In Love". This is supposedly just the hype single. Her first single is supposed to be more traditional.

Wow, this is A MESS
This is horrible! The repeating does kinda resemble Crazy in Love, and those instruments in the beat too.
If this is the 1st single I can't see it doing much, and Amerie can kiss her career goodbye. Radio won't respond to this.

Amerie, my girl! What the hell was your record label THINKING!!!! Damn! She could've released a better single than this. Just because she's on the same label as Beyonce` doesn't make her go gangbusters with this Crazy In Love rip-off! Disapointment City here, ya'll!!

This sounds nothing like "Crazy In Love" IMO. Musically, melodically, they sound nothing alike to me, so I really don't understand the comparisons.
That said, this song stinks. The beat is a mess, and her vocals are downright awful. Flop! Make that, mega-flop!

This sounds nothing like "Crazy In Love". Sorry. The problem with this song is the music. It's not enough. It causes the song to buckle under its own weight. Her label needs to add something, perhaps some heavy guitar, or harder drums, something! But they can not release it this way. Other than that...I found nothing wrong. *shrug*

This sounds nothing like "Crazy In Love". Sorry. Yeah. I think this is an awful song, but this is much more awfulER. SMH. I guess they're trying to generate NEGATIVE hype with this as a hype single? This sounds like a 2 cent CIL. People already don't care about her, I guess she wants them HATING her now...

Is she still with Sony? I think I heard she got dropped, but I can't remember.

Amerie recently said this is the first single, despite what her label is saying.

Not sure who is playin this but its already at over 5 mill in audience and it only has about 114 urban spins and 77 rhythmic. This song might be a smash for Amerie! For some reason this song just clicked to me. its hotness! I may even like this better than J.Los song :o www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/Reports/Reg/EMD.asp?SOngID=1360718&NumDays=7

i can't BELIEVE what ya'll are saying! i had to register just to post a response to this
if this is the song i'm thinking about, this joint is fire!
the reason why ppl might be saying the instrumental is "lacking" is because it's a go-go influenced track which relies heavily on drums. go-go is the music native to DC, where Amerie and the producer are from
her singing on the hook is really tight, and i have no idea where ya'll are getting the crazy in love comparison from, but B is not GREAT R&B! she's more pop than anything, and personally i think she oversings her songs

the mp3 link doesn't work, also i wouldn't call myself a "fan" per se :). i just like music
edit: if someone's willing to host, i'll post a go-go version of "pieces of me" that is pretty tight and really does the song justice compared to craplee "ashy" simpson
