This could overtake and keep 30 Seconds To Mars from #1.

This could overtake and keep 30 Seconds To Mars from #1. I was noticing that myself last night. That'd just be the latest thing about the Alternative chart to piss me off if that happened.

I don't get the group's success. None of their songs are "groundbreaking", no one ever talks about them, etc. I saw them live, it was terrible. I went to go to the bathroom, and the lead singer was hanging out by the guys bathroom with sunglasses on acting all wasted and just being a complete douche.
I think this is a sign that alternative radio is due for a new "sound" or a re-emergence of maybe some post-grunge, because the chart right now is just straight up WEAK.

I'm shocked with the airplay they keep getting. Seriously, what's the appeal of this band? ???

Oh, c'mon, they're better than Kings of Leon!

Hmmm...close call. Kings Of Leon has more interesting vocals. It's funny that "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" will probably be the song this band is remembered for, and it will be the single that failed to reach #1.

I like this band alright. The only reason that they're getting so much airplay is because they're making fun, radio ready, catchy singles.
Kings of Leon is way better though.

I'm in the minority again here. I've really enjoyed all three of Cage The Elephant's singles as I like their rock sound with possibly some slight reggae or rap mixed in. I checked out their album and it didn't make me "shoot a load" as one of my friends always says, but it was a good overall album. I think this is just the spawn of a continuation of future big things to happen over the next five years or so for them, assuming things stay kosher with the band themselves.
So, yes I do think they're much better than Kings of Leon, whom overall I find to be rather boring. I do like half of the songs on "Only By The Night," but I do think they're extremely overrated overall.

Looks like this is going to get stonewalled at #3. Oh well.

Hmmm...close call. Kings Of Leon has more interesting vocals. Caleb Followill has a more interesting and jarring voice. However, Matthew Shultz has more interesting lyrics and a dude next door style. I feel like I could have a beer with Kings of Leon, but I'd have to have the whole 12-pack with Cage The Elephant.

Great shot at reaching #1 officially by the August 7 report! Favorite song on radio.

I can't believe this and BATW hit #1, but ANRFTW didn't :'( ANRFTW was the breakthrough, so it's no suprise for me. It opened the door for #1 follow-ups. I'd like to see "Free Love" or "Back Stabbin' Betty" get pushed next.

They may just go straight for the second album; this one is already 2 years old (their European release). But if they do go for another single, "James Brown" or "Free Love" would be good choices. "Free Love" was their first UK release.
