They yanked it but I don't know why. It still sold 30,000 last week and has quite a bit of airplay at both the country and pop formats yet. I'm 99% positive it should still be on the mongrel chart (by Billboard's own rules), but I guess they don't care about following their own rules or about making good charts anymore. Billboard may have yanked Wanted because it went recurrent on the Top 40 and Hot AC chart. It would be nice if BB published their complete rules and ranking system.

Strange. Wanted by Hunter Hayes was at #9 last week after 56 weeks on the mongrel chart. This week, he is nowhere to be found. With the recurrent rules on that chart, that means he slipped to at least #26 (older titles deleted after 20 weeks after they dip below the top 25). Does that mean Hayes shares the longevity record with Lee Brice with Love Like Crazy? You be the judge! How on earth does it make any sense for Hunter to fall from 9-26 or lower? I don't think that's what happened. I think Billboard is just a silly little company that does what it pleases. I mean, "Wanted" is still selling well enough that it should EASILY be in the top 15 of the mongrel chart. Jhomes87 said it the best!

countryhistorian, I have a question. If Kacey Musgraves would've stayed in the top 10 with "Merry Go 'Round", and Miranda Lambert then got in with "Mama's Broken Heart", it would've been one of those rare instances where Kacey had two top 10's at the same time, one as a singer and one as a songwriter. My question is: When was the last time an artist had 2 songs in the top 10: one as a singer of his own song, and as a songwriter of someone else's song? My first stab at this question would be Taylor Swift. In August, 2009 her You Belong With Me was at #3 while Kellie Pickler entered the top ten (for her only time) with the Swift-penned Best Days Of Your Life at #10. The top ten chart for that week looked like: BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING AUGUST 8, 2009: 1. People Are Crazy-Billy Currington-Mercury 2. Alright-Darius Rucker-Capitol 3. YOU BELONG WITH ME-TAYLOR SWIFT-BIG MACHINE 4. I Run To You-Lady Antebellum-Capitol 5. Whatever It Is-Zac Brown Band-Atlantic 6. Summer Nights-Rascal Flatts-Lyric Street 7. Boots On-Randy Houser-Universal South 8. Living For The Night-George Strait-MCA 9. Big Green Tractor-Jason Aldean-Broken Bow 10. BEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE-KELLIE PICKLER-BNA I am sure I may be wrong here, but if someone else knows of a more recent example (even if I find one), please post it here. Thanks! I found a recent chart that may answer your question. On the May 12, 2012 chart, Blake Shelton accomplished it. His song "Drink On It" was at #5 that week while the song "Over You" by Miranda Lambert which was cowritten by Blake was at #3 that week.

Somethin' 'Bout A Truck-Kip Moore-MCA 10. Springsteen-Eric Church-EMI I think Over You has won a few awards for Lambert and Shelton.

Wasn't sure where else to post this...
Effective with the April 8-14 BDS tracking week, WNSH New York joins the Country Airplay chart panel. Prior to the station’s flip to country in January, the market had been without a significant country station for about 17 years.
That oughta really make things interesting. It should be the #1 market, bigger than KKGO in Los Angeles, so it should contribute some big time audience numbers..

Billboard can't give the country genre enough charts! First, we get the mongrel chart and now is the streaming chart. What's next? Why is there no airplay update in the overall update?

Why is there no airplay update in the overall update? Airplay updates are on Mondays.

The Thursday issue gives a "building gainer" section (it's on page 8 of the issue) that shows the 10 songs which have increased in spins the most from Monday through 5pm ET on Wednesday, as compared to the same period in the previous week. That's as close of a mid-week airplay update that Billboard gives.

I know this discussion was awhile ago, but the recurrent rules of the new chart are the same as the Hot 100. If a song spends more than 20 weeks (or maybe 26?) and drops below #50, it is removed from the chart. 'Wanted' dropped below the top 50 on the Hot 100 and was thus removed.

^Looks like they did some time traveling for the most increased audience and most increased plays lists. Blake Shelton's Honey Bee tops both lists.

BB's been making all kinds of goofs like that lately, usually in those sections or they'll put up years-old call-out charts instead of the new ones.

WNSH will continue to build audience, but it still has a way to go to overtake the most-listened country station in the country, KKBQ, which recently surpassed WUSN; nevertheless, having a country station in NYC is terrific, in spite of having a so-so signal.
The bottom line is that going from a 0.6 to a 2.0 in the 18-49 demo in just nine weeks is exceptional.

Gotta love that picture of Travis Tritt and his daughter, Reese in the mid-week report. Thank God they labelled who was who. I was confused for a moment.

Maybe the Hot Country Songs chart (mongrel) is good for something. He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones reenters at #21. It is also at #9 on the streaming songs chart and #15 on the digital sales chart. Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes is at #39 digital sales.

33 years later, George Jones and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" re-enter the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart...
Reason #862 that this new chart is ridiculous.

^The chart is ridiculous, but this is not one of the reasons why. Decades-old hits returning to the chart after the death of a legend is not new and not unique to this chart. Whitney Houston returned to the Hot 100 following her death, Michael Jackson would have if chart rules at the time allowed it, and Stand By Your Man returned to the country chart following Tammy Wynette's death, to name a few. Radio stations play a legend's top songs in tribute, fans buy their records, thus they return to the charts. For now you'll need to be satisfied with 861 reasons to hate the chart. :)
