This is the first single from her new album Classic Moments. It's a cover of Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way". It goes for adds at Urban AC on June 7. The album also features covers of Elton John's "Your Song," Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'," LTD's "Love Ballad," and Kristine W.'s "Land Of The Living".

I'm sure this will be a Urban Ac smash, but I wonder how this will do at Urban? Has anyone heard it?

I wouldn't even be sure of how Urban AC will respond. They're very picky with covers of classics.

HERE'S THE TRACKLIST FOR PATTI'S CLASSICS: I wrote who I know or think the original singer is next to the song.
1. Ain’t No Way featuring Mary J. Blige (Aretha Franklin) 2. He’s Out Of My Life (Michael Jackson) 3. Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time) (Delfonics) 4. Love Don’t Live Here Anymore (Rose Royce) 5. I Keep Forgetting (Michael McDonald) 6. Love Ballad (L.T.D.) 7. I Can’t Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt) 8. Your Song featuring Elton John (Elton John) 9. I'll Write A Song For You (Earth, Wind and Fire) 10. Silly (Deniece Williams) 11. I'll Stand By You (The Pretenders) 12. You're Gonna Make Me Love Someone Else
I am looking forward most so far from what I know to hearing AINT NO WAY, LOVE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (Can yall imagine patti singing that), I Can't Make you love me ( I love that song by Bonnie Raitt) and Silly ( can you imagine her singing that. That song is high)

"You're Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" is by the Jones Girls.
They picked some GREAT songs. "Love Ballad" and "Silly" are in my top five of all time.

As over-done as "I Can't Make YOu Love Me" has become thanks to AI, I still want to hear Patti rip into it. "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" should be interesting as well.

Can't wait to hear this one. Mary has been taming her vocals lately......which is a good thing. But next to Patti, you literally have to scream to be heard.

having a hard time imagining Patti covering Deniece Williams... I can hear it. Patti can hit the same high notes. Actually I can hear Patti singing most of these.

"Silly" is about emotion and if Patti screams her damn head off through the whole song, she'll ruin it.

"Silly" is about emotion and if Patti screams her damn head off through the whole song, she'll ruin it. But Patti conveys emotion and interprets well, let's not slight her.

But Patti is like Mary. She conveys emotion by screaming. That's their thing, but it wasn't Deniece's. "Silly" is about tender vocals and all those little nuances that Deniece did when she sounded like she was about to cry.

Patti has given toned down vocal performances before. She is capable of doing more than screaming.

"Silly" is about tender vocals and all those little nuances that Deniece did when she sounded like she was about to cry. At times she screams, but the quiet moments of the verses in "2 Steps Away" are as good as anything. I think she can do both.

Patti definitely tears this up with her vocals. I'm not crazy about everything overall though. It sounds really gospel, but there's just something about the production that turns me off. It's so overdone.

I like it. The vocals are stellar. It is a bit gospel-ish, so I don't know that it's the slam dunk at Urban AC that it would seem.
Patti and Mary take it to church for sure.
