So I woke up this morning and the headline of the article about the grammys on our national (Slovenia) broadcaster's website was: Are grammys even relevant anymore?
Then I skimmed the article and saw that a country act dominated grammys for the second year in a row (Taylor Swift last year) and they describe "Need You Now" as a very bland pop/country ballad that was a big hit on commercial American radio. The writer also wonders who will remember that song in 5 years and who outside of the US even knows the song? The writer thinks that other 4 nominees for the record of the year were more worthy of a grammy.
IMO, the awards don't even matter anymore. Performances are the only aspect of the show that is worth watching and even those can be trainwrecks.
Oh and Lady GaGa looked awful.

That reporter is probably right. The Grammys started to lose its relevance around 8 years ago. Has any reporter from the U.K. said the same thing?

I'm really disappointed that Need You Now sweeped; I can understand something like Not Ready To Make Nice doing so a few years back, it's a far superior song, but NYN is just OK. Such a shame, it just made the show kinda boring and a bit of a farce. Still a bit miffed about BNA, but AOTY was a pleasant surprise.

I can't at the haters, just because she's unknown. She has more musical talent then all of the other nominees combined, tbh.GO ESPERANZA!!! That's the general idea, yes? Yes. And this year, the outcome fortunately reflected that.

My fav or the night was Bruno and Janelle's performance... wowwwww, Bruno on the drums was sick.. I also liked Gaga's performance, she sounded great and she had energy... Katy Perry sounded great ..which is shocking... Christina, ughhh I cant stand her voice..I feel sorry for her, she fell while on stage ..lol.. Bieber is going thru puberty and its obvious in his voice..lol.. Usher is soooooo overrated ... I love the chick that sings on the new em song... rhianna sucked... thats my wrap of the grammys..

Quick question regarding "Need You Now:" how many other SONGS have won four Grammys? That seems a little excessive.

Just saw the list of winners. Was quite surprised, but happy about it. Although NYN winning both song and record of the year was a bit too much. The performances I've seen so far have been good too. Overall it was one of the better grammy nights of recent years IMO.

If Kanye was elegible this year I guess he'd be sure to win, but I'm just afraid that by next year, after a whole new studio album, the hype will have died down and the voters will go for something else entirelly.
Nonetheless, it'd be great if Kanye could manage to albums nominated for AOTY. Has this ever happened?

I preferred last year's performances but this one wasn't bad. It was solid.
A couple of "upsets". That is nice too.
I was also glad to see Katy go home empty handed. She is awful IMO.
