I didn't even know Monica HAD a new album or single. :O Ever since R&R folded, I haven't bothered to check out the other charts other than Pop and Hot AC so I feel like I'm missing out. or to turn on BET in the last 4 months, either

that's how she's selling so big, Max, she's been pretty much sitting on BET from performances of her song with Keyshia Cole, to the Mary j Blige tribute she did, to her own reality show, to hosting 106 & Park (multiple) times, to the single being #1 there for 11 days and counting.

Monica's numbers are pleasantly surprising. The power of a hit that actually moves album units. I knew "Everything to Me" would get the Urban audience back on board in a big way after the misstep of her last era. Very very nice rebound for Mo.

GO, MO! Sometimes it's best to go back to the basics.

50k? Monica is not that huge of a seller, but 50k is a bit low. I had a feeling she would do over 100k. I wasn't expecting almost 200k though.

Monica probably would have outsold Justin had her album been stocked at more stores.

Never woulda thought Monica would be outselling Rihanna for first week. This ought to give other faded R&b stars such as Brandy a bit of hope.

Maybe her reality show on Vh1,will giver her a chance. let's hope so. Brandy is very talented and has consistently put out good records. I'm very happy that Monica is having success this time around. Hopefully the second single keeps her in the top 40 for most of the year!

I really do think that the reality series are what helped Monica (and Keyshia Cole) sell albums. The only think I wonder with Brandy is that I dont think VH1's viewers are as loyal as BET. I hope Brandy does rebound with help of VH1. Human was such a great album. Anyway Congrats to Bieber and Monica.

"Everything to me" is also #1 on the R&B chart now, all the promo on BET and the reality series helped for sure, and her extensive Twitter family, but you can't deny the power of a great single. The album definitely has more great singles, I think most everyone, even those who think the album is just so-so, agree with that... she's likely to keep up pretty good numbers through the year.

YOUR SWEET 16 WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW
The above headline refers not only to the scintillating NCAA Tournament but also to the second stage of 16-year-old Justin Bieber’s World Takeover. But the kid isn’t the only big story shaping up on next week’s chart. It appears that diva Monica will sell three or four times the units the experts had predicted at the start of this week. Thanks to Justin, Monica and the latest hits collection in the Now franchise, we’re looking at three six-figure debuts as the biz makes a strong comeback from this week’s paltry numbers, the first chart without a 100k entry after 29 straight weeks. Here's the big picture as of Friday morning:
Justin Bieber, My World 2.0 (Island/IDJ) 225-250k Monica (J/RMG) 175-195k Now 33 (Capitol/EMI) 130-140k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 80-85k She & Him (Merge) 45-50k Justin Bieber, My World (Island/IDJ) 45-50k Ludacris (DTP/Def Jam/IDJ) 45-50k Marvin Sapp (Verity/JLG) 40-45k Lady Gaga, The Fame (Interscope) 40-45k Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) 35-40k Twilight Saga: New Moon (Chop Shop/Atlantic) 30-35k Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster (Interscope) 25-30k Sade (Epic) 25-30k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 25-30k Ke$ha (RCA/RMG) 25-30k
You may now return to handicapping the Final Four. (3/26a)

Usher is the mentor on Idol next week, so we'll see how much that helps.
Monica's projection is excellent.

Here's a little industry insight. RCA under-shipped on Monica's album & is scrambling to re-stock it. She otherwise would've beaten Bieber. about 1 hours ago via web LARRY >:(

^ yea, that album is declining a bit. Sade would need another single or be more visible for the album to sell well throughout the year. However, 1 million+ units in less than two months isn't a fluke at all. Sade usually sells over time. Still a good success and comeback.

Urban AC will play Sade's music and radio exposure would help sales stay steady.

Isn't the understocked issue not so much of an excuse anymore with iTunes, Amazon and such?
Still great numbers for Monica
