"Trippin" has a slight bullet back at Urban AC.

I still love this song.
Also, a little mad that they made the official title "Trippin" (which is so typical), rather than "That's The Way Love Works".

I don't understand why Please was released so long before the album came out and why she had so little promotion....

I'm not the biggest Toni fan, but I do have her latest releases, The Heat, More Than a Woman & Libra, but I am appalled by the lackluster and essentially non-existent promotion from Blackground Records. Toni would've been better off staying with Arista. The CD has been RIAA-certified Gold, but it has sold less than 350k copies. That is certainly a disappointment with an internationally acclaimed, multi-platinum superstar. For veteran divas like Aretha or Gladys or Patti, this would be a hit and it would be acceptable, but for someone in Toni's group, this is sad. Actually, the CD has done no better than 2002's More Than a Woman and it has had more promotion, so that's a problem.

promoting it at homedepot ain't exactly appealing to her key demo .. blackround definitely f-up this one. the cd wasn't that great, but it should have done better. Trippin's should have at least been top30 & Please Top20

Notice how no matter where she goes, there's a problem with the promotion and she's not selling well? The only common factor in the whole situation is Toni, and I think people don't want to admit it but it appears that she's digging her own grave.

LOL!! but seriously she needs to promote this album a little more, try and get platinum atleast, why do they have to lose interest if the album shows signs of flopping, i mean jennifer lopez and so many others jus give up on their albums without trying to push it a little more when it doesnt do amazingly well, mariah pushed glitter till the 3rd single, atleast she tried.

There's nothing that can save this project now unfortunately. No amount of money or promo is gonna make a difference at this point. The promotion for this album all should've been done from the very beginning. I blame the album being a flop partly on Toni but mostly on the label that doesn't even know what it is they're doing.

I do agree with that because it seems like record labels and artists are not even trying to promote efforts as much anymore as they used to. If the first single flops, then they preetty much pack up the ship and do not even support their artists. I think that Toni is trying her best, but the label just aren't giving her the type of support she needs.

That seems to be what is happening. Toni is making apperances for herself. Apperances that don't require the help or permission of the record label, like the casino tour. But I blame this entirely on BlackGround for not knowing how to promote artists in general. The only major success they've had is Aaliyah and that's because she died while on their label.

Sorry for bringing mariah up again, but universal could have easily lost interest in her when it's like that did not turn into a big hit, but they just hit back stronger with all that promotion in late april and may and it just got better after that. Toni could have easily performed trippin at big shows and stuff, gone on trl,106 etc, but yea the culprit lies in blackground.. they needed to arrange all that for her. Damn them for ruining her chance, i so wish she finds a good label, a good voice like hers needs to be presented well and put on the mainstream music scene.

While yes her record label screwed up, you can't tell me that she is uncapable of going on 106 & Park or TRL on her own. Those shows have had random people just show up out of nowhere. While she shouldn't have to if your label won't do it, why doesn't she do it?

JoJo is also on blackground and they did right by her the first time around. I think that blackground just said f*ck toni after "please" flopped miserably. They basically said f*ck tank also after his single "them girls" flopped HARD.

I still love this song, even more so with Mary J's "Be Without You" & Ne-Yo's "So Sick" to go along with it on radio.
Sad thing is, I have never heard it on radio. I heard "Please" like twice.

I really enjoy this song.
Too bad Blackground did absolutely nothing to promote it other than Toni being on Oprah.
'Please' could have been Mariah's 'WBT' (obviously, in a metaphorical way, Please would have never been as big) with the right promotion. That song was off the damn chain.

Man, I was able to finally hear this song fully because I just listened to her hot, new CD on Friday, and I am livid that Blackground did not promote this joint the way they should've. It's just like Capitol Records with Faith Evans' Tru Love, which has been garnering respectable radio spins, but taken the quality of the song has not been performing well at all. It's disconcerting that a song like this would not even be spun by any major stations really. That can be totally attributed to Blackgrounds and their weak promotional abilities. Before going on shows like 106&Park, people should be able to identify with a song which rests on the record company. That identification comes from having the song played on radio stations as well as videos.

I'm a little sad that this song didn't take off. Tried requesting the song on the R&B station here (along with Faith's "Tru Love") and they only had Faith's song playing. They hadn't had a Toni Braxton song in a while, since a couple of months ago. But it wasn't a hit, so they didn't play it much. Wasn't sure if they were referring to "Please" or this excellent track.

Actually Aaliyah had Jive to help on Age Ain't Nothing But a Number and Atlantic to help on One In a Million but "We Need a Resolution" didn't do very well.
