Please had alot of adds but Blackground and Toni decided to opt it as a promotional single because She felt it did not fully reflect the mood of the album.

That's the flop tactic that Janet and Whitney used. When you send a song for adds, ship out a video, perform it on TV, and then it flops.. saying it was never a single is the coward way out.

Agreed. A true heater single would be something more like "Silly Ho".
Maybe the best thing would've been to pull a Monica or Usher after "All Eyez On Me" and "Pop Ya Collar".

Just because you don't release a video doesn't mean it wasn't a single. If the song went for adds officially its a single.

"All Eyez On Me" had a video.. He meant Toni should have gone back to the studio after "Please" flopped and recorded better songs. It worked for Monica and Usher. When Janet and Whitney pulled the "It wasn't a single" deal, their albums flopped.

Really? I don't see this song as being anything for Ashanti or Ciara. I think needs maturity and Toni has that. As for the Background vocals I agree.

This track is getting some major urban adds at the moment, if Chuck is talkin shit or not. It looks like it might take off pretty well on that format.

I still like this song. That review was a little harsh.
Sure, she's not belting or anything, but I don't think this song called for it.
Toni is doing the background vocals Chuck!!!

I like the song too, and Chuck even says it's not a bad song... just disappointing and generic coming from Toni, which is is, so he's spot on like Orange Clouds said.

The whole stutter-stop style of ballad has been hot for some time now. I wouldn't call this song generic at all. Granted, it does fit into that style, but it's still a great song, and better than most of the recent ones that have been released IMO.
I didn't hear anyone complaining about Mariah being generic when she released "We Belong Together," they just recognized it as a great song. "Don't Forget About Us" is the same way. "Tru Love" by Faith Evans, ditto. If you want to hear a bad version of this style of ballad, go listen to Tierra Marie's "Phone Booth." Horrific!
And to say this song is on the Ciara or Ashanti level is ridiculous.

If it doesn't enter the Hot 100, Europe won't play this.

I just heard "Trippin'" (on New York radio) and that's quite an accomplishment because I don't remember them playing "Please".
