2 things:
1) can we get updates for Drake's new song "Find Your Love"?
2) i'm a huge eminem fan, and "not afraid" is awesome, but i don't see it doing much at radio...

^yeah, and i have a feeling this album will sell better first week than "relapse" because he has been on fire sine "forever", and so people are ready to hear that old eminem. but, as far as #1 goes, it could still get there, but it will likely be due to itunes downloads 1st week i bet.

If I Gotta Feeling spends another week in the top 40 I think Billboard should make an announcement of sorts soon because I'm sure it has already passed WBT as Song of the Decade.

Which decade are you referring too? We are in a new decade now. 'Song of the last decade' was declared when the last decade ended.

I think he means the biggest song of those released in the decade, not necessarily the biggest one from 2000 to 2010. One may say IGF was the song of the decade considering it was the biggest hit to come out of that decade. Just like Avatar was the highest grossing movie of the decade, even though most of the grossings came in 2010. It was the highest grossing movie to come out of that decade, and that's what matters.

If anyone is interested in the BDS radio charts (used by Billboard), they are posted for free on the website "radio-info.com".
I stumbled across the site this morning.

Why are people still obsessing with the title? The decade ended a few months ago, and even if IGF belongs to the 2010 -- decade, then there's still 9 more years to go

He means that the song was released and peaked in 2009. Rightly or wrongly its chart run is part of the decade the 2000s. Even if it has 73 weeks on the chart after the conclusion of its peak year (or decade), those weeks count towards its overall chart performance. That's the way Record Research has always counted the straggling weeks and it makes sense to me.
However, IGF will NOT pass WBT as the #1 song of the 2000s. It needed one more week in the top 10 to surpass Mariah. Of course, if Mariah's song hadn't had that 'free' week at number one...

By my calendar, the decade ended December 31, 2009
I Gotta Feeling may or may not move past We Belong Togeher in any future 'Songs of the Century' charts.
However, the 00's are done. Billboard produced a chart that said 'We Belong Together' is #1 for the decade.
There will be no announcement that they goofed and are producing a revised chart.

If "I Gotta Feeling" wasn't still charting, it would not be relevant to the thread. But as it is charting, I think it's fine to discuss here.
it all depends on how people calculate information. Billboard publishes year-end lists, and all-time lists. On the next Billboard all-time list, "I Gotta Feeling" most likely would rank above "We Belong Together." If Fred Bronson compiled a list for his Hottest Hot 100 Singles book, "I Gotta Feeling: would rank as the No. 1 single of the 2000s- that's because if a title peaked in "X" year, all of its points get applied to "X" year, the year it peaked. That's how he chooses to calculate- like said, it's individual choice.

The fact that WBT got the title does not mean IGF won't be able to become a hugher hit. And since it was released in 2009 and peaked in 2009, it'll become the biggest hit of all those released in the decade. WBT will keep its title as Billboad's song of the decade, which does not mean it was the biggest hit of those released in that decade.

I am reacting to the 'song of the decade' declarations from people who believe that activity in 2010 belings in the 00's decade and not the 10's decade.
"Huger" hit or not - is all subjective anyway. They were both big hits for their time and under completely different marketplaces. Comparing them on an equal basis requires a high degree of subjectivity. If I Gotta Feeling is a "bigger hit" than We Belong Together by the comparisons in this thread, we are asssuming that it would have done so had they been released at the same time.
No way to know this.
Period specific songs have weights different than songs from other time periods on these sort of lists which is why We belong Together might always rank higher than I Gotta Feeling.

The Twist - with its 3 weeks at #1 is still likely to be teh biggest hit of all time regardless of this outcome

2m (and others), I don't know why you argue this when you know what people are referring to. Yes, Billboard declared "We Belong Together" the number one song of the decade and that's that. People are now referring to how that song and "I Gotta Feeling" will be listed in Joel Whitburn's Record Research books. IGF's entire chart life will ultimately be ascribed to 2009 and, thusly, the 00s when listing the decades longest running number one singles. It's the same reason Santana's "Smooth" is listed as the number 8 song of the 90s even though it spent some of its 12 weeks on top in 2000. This list determines overall rank based on weeks at number one, then weeks in the top ten, followed by weeks in the top 40 and weeks in the top 100. By this methodology, WBT will still remain on top of the 00s list because it spent a week longer in the top ten. It's the same chart where Carrie Underwood's "Inside Your Heaven" ranks ahead of Mariah's "Shake It Off," since IYH spent a week at number one and SIO stalled at number two for 6 weeks. Mariah's song spent much longer on the chart and, points-wise, was a MUCH bigger hit, but that's a separate way of measuring chart success than what is being talked about here.
The Record Research "Top Pop Singles" list is what people are referring to in this thread. What Billboard proclaimed in November is irrelevant to this discussion. Apples/oranges.

The Twist - with its 3 weeks at #1 is still likely to be teh biggest hit of all time regardless of this outcome And you and I know (but not everybody does) that's because it obtained those 3 weeks at #1 in TWO different chart runs. "The Twist" remains the ONLY song to go to #1 twice on the Hot 100. The first time in 1960, and the second time a year later in 1961-62. Therefore it ranked up (especially for its time) an incredible amount of weeks on the Hot 100 altogether, giving it many more points than the average Hot 100 song.
