I think he is pretty big. He has 2 #1 singles, and a bunch of top 10s. I mean he isn't crazy huge but he is bigger than a lot of people =)

Yah, 2m- because of the way Billboard compiles its year-end/decade-end charts, it wouldn't go back and phrase something as "Song of the Decade"- I don't even think it used "Song of the Decade" in the decade-end issue, did it? It's just that "We Belong Together" had the most points of all singles to appear on the Hot 100, for every week it appearing on the chart through the last week of November 2009, thus ranking No. 1 on the decade list. :)
RE Eminem- he's reliable as a strong seller. He doesn't need major airplay to fare well.

^RE the Whitburn books- he ranks "decade" songs in the one section (breaking ties by weeks in top 10 and so on), but in terms of points, that's a different story (he has not ranked hits by points in any editions thus far). By spending 3 weeks more on the chart than "Together," "Feeling" has more points via that methodology. As it would via Billboard's most recent methodology, which assigns points based on week-to-week position. So, if Billboard keeps its current methodology, on the next all-time list, "I Gotta Feeling" will be the highest-ranked track from the 2000-2010 era (unless, of course, another track outperforms it). . If we have the understanding of the point system correct. I agree For 2000-2010Where I didn't agree was the 'song of the decade' references in this thread (or 2000-2009) OK, know I'm late. Not "Song of the Year" per se, but Song With Most Points, we got it.

I am having a difficult time understanding why a song is called "Song of the year" for 2009 or "song of the decade" for the 00s because of its performance in 2010 (Or most popular or whatever other label)? Based on a non-Billboard publication. If you can help me understand that, I can agree with all the previous posts too.

It's not that hard to understand. One way to see it is to attribute all points for the song to the year of its release. I gotta feeling was released in 2009 and considering it was the most successful song of all those released in 2009, you may say it's the most succesful song of 2009.
Another example: what was the highest-grossing film of 2009? Avatar, right? But actually, Avatar was not the highest-grossing film if you only consider january-december. It made most of its money in 2010. And still, it was the most succesful movie of all those released in 2009, and wherever you'll look it'll say it was the highes-grossing film of 2009.

^Yes, that is true. That's how Box Office Mojo does it, and that's about the best movie site out there. Again, though, different outlets do different things. And unlike Avatar, "I Gotta Feeling" accumulated most of its points in 2009. :)
Back to Hot 100- are any of the "Glee" tracks expected to debut inside the top 40 this week?

^I'd say IMDB is the best, with BOM second lol. These are all pretty valid arguments on IGF, but it's good we're having them. It only goes to show how popular they truly are.

I don't know that any of the ballads from last week's episode will crack the top 40 but I'm hoping "Physical" from this week holds steady. Even if it's just a fluke one week appearance, it would be cool to see Olivia Newton-John land a top 40 hit again.

Here's the article about OMG being #1 tomorrow:
Usher has Will.i.am to thank for his fastest top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in 12 years. Usher will up his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 count to nine as "OMG" is set to move to the top of the chart to be released tomorrow morning (May 6).
"OMG," which features vocals by will.i.am, lifts 6-1 in its fifth week on the chart, prompted by equal 35% increases in both radio impressions and digital download sales, according to Nielsen BDS and Nielsen SoundScan, respectively. The track is the Airplay Gainer for a third straight week (up 18.5 million listener impressions to 71.8 million, rising 14-7 on Radio Songs) and claims the Digital Gainer crown for a second straight frame (up 57,000 to 217,000 downloads to lead the Digital Songs list). Since Usher first led the Hot 100 on Valentine's Day week 1998 with "Nice & Slow," no other artist has outpaced his No. 1 production. Mariah Carey and Rihanna have the second-most chart-toppers in that span with six each. Usher last held the No. 1 spot for three weeks in March 2008 with "Love in This Club," featuring Young Jeezy. On the Billboard 200, Usher's sixth studio set "Raymond vs. Raymond" dips 5-6 with 48,0000 units (down 8%). The album became his third consecutive No. 1 debut when it entered the list four weeks ago.

Congrats I thought it was his 10th??? Man i wish BOB could have been #1 for a few more week. Usher will be #1 for multiple weeks for a song that is okay (B/B+) and Nothing on u is A/A+ IMO. Also, the fast paced thing must be referring to how many weeks it takes to get to #1 because I thought Kelly hit number 1 in her second or third week and Britney obviously debut at #1 with three. Maybe I didn't read it right.

Yay I was right after all, and again if Em gets it next week then people can't complain about him robbing Usher. Especially since the week afterward Usher would have a pretty decent chance again as far as I can tell.
ETA: Usher has Will.i.am to thank for his fastest top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in 12 years.

I think next week Eminem will top the Hot 100.
Let's see this week the #1 (OMG) had 71,000(AI) + 217,000 (downloads) = 288,000
Next week I think it will be pretty much the same, what he will gain in AI, he will loose in downloads, so Eminem will have to sell around 300,000 to top the chart (which I think it's very likely he will be able to do it).
I for one, like this fast rotation at #1. Also, Usher will return to #1 the week after, but not for long (for 2 or 3 more weeks). Lately people are having a fast turnover at buying the digital songs. Unlike last year where BBP and IGF top that chart for weeks and weeks on end (and they didn't had that big AI, at least not like RB and NOY). I understand IGF selling a lot for weeks and weeks on end (it´s after all THE best party anthem since....... Macarena, perhaps???), but BBP, it's not that good of a song (I think it dominated that much last year, cuz it didn't had that much of competition).

"Physical" unlikely would rank in the top 40; Hot 100, yeah, if sales hold up Ok through the week. I agree that it would be nice to see her on the chart- would she, at 61, be the oldest woman to have a Hot 100 hit? Tina Turner was 58 with her last, Cher was 56. d.t.m.- does imdb have box office information? That's what I meant about Mojo. :) (it may, I just never looked into it) Hopefully in 14 years, "I Gotta Feeling" won't be looked at with the same disdain that "Macarena" is now. Will IGF hold on the Hot 100 for a 47th week?
