today.msnbc.msn.com/id/36905841/from/ETLONDON - Michael Jackson's video for his hit single "Thriller" has been voted the most influential in pop music history, according to the results of a poll released on Monday. The survey, commissioned by MySpace, interviewed more than 1,000 music fans. They made their choice from a long list of 20 videos selected by music and entertainment critics. Thriller, credited with breaking down the boundaries between music and film making, garnered 15.2 percent of the votes, ahead of "Here It Goes Again", the 2006 internet hit featuring OK Go dancing on treadmills. Following is the list of the top 10 most influential pop music videos: 1. "Thriller"/Michael Jackson/1983/15.2 percent 2. "Here It Goes Again"/OK Go/2006/11.7 percent 3. "Baby One More Time"/Britney Spears/1998/11.2 percent 4. "Take On Me"/A-Ha/1985/8.6 percent 5. Johnny Cash/"Hurt"/2003/7.6 percent 6. "Bohemian Rhapsody"/Queen/1975/5.6 percent 7. at that list. LOL. What a joke. 1000 people were asked to pick between 20 videos to come up with the top 10.

They are pretty influential though. Well, some of them are. Thriller, obviously. Take On Me and Sledgehammer were a pretty big deal. Baby One More Time, kind of... although a bit high. The Queen video.
...yeah, you're right. It's kind of a dumb list.

LOL. It just clicked with me that Britney has a video on the list but Madonna doesn't.
Umm... yeah.

Sample size is small and skewed. I'm not sure if there would even be a good way to do a study of this sort, but this certainly isn't it.

8. "Weapon of Choice"/Fatboy Slim/1999/4 percent ??? If they were going to have any Fatboy Slim video in the list it should have been Praise You.
I like that they included Around The World and Sabotage though :)

Well, given the differences in how they're perceived as artists and all, any time Britney Spears is a on a "best" list that has to do with music or videos and Madonna isn't, it's kinda surprising. But then one has to remember that this is a *user-generated* list, which hold little to no weight compared to critics/reputable lists. They show fan dedication, but that's about it. "...Baby One More Time," along with "Toxic," is the limit of Spears' notable acclaim, so not saying ..."Baby" wasn't a notable video.
Most of those top 10 videos are notable, though.

1000 people? Not exactly a large enough sample size to be representative. It's really the critics' choices, filtered through a group of 1000 myspacers....
